Also, it's no secret that Ripple at the current stage of development, is mainly pushing RippleNet. Are you really so fucking stupid that you cant understand that - before you can ride the train, you need rails. Ripple is building the needed infrastructure. XRP offers additional 30% savings when there's a network of FI's that are using RippleNet.

Why wouldn't these partners use XRP? The thing is, once it's all official, the price will be $10-100.

The explosion in Ripple’s value over the past month is the starkest illustration yet of how the mania around Bitcoin has spilled over into a broader universe of virtual currencies. These coins — with names like Cardano, Stellar, and Iota — are generally new twists on the Bitcoin technology, which uses a decentralized network of volunteer computers to keep a record, known as a blockchain, of all transactions.

While most of these currencies were worth nearly nothing a year ago, many are now responsible for creating billionaires — albeit with rapidly fluctuating fortunes. If this is a tulip fever, the fever has spread to chrysanthemums and poppies.

it might be a sort of 'tulip mania' but the best part for us is that this is just the beginning. the total crypto market cap is easily going to reach multiple trillions within 2018 and probably break 10 trillion in 2019

anyone that buys any coins now will be looking at a virtually guaranteed 10-1000x increase in value over just a couple years. If you happen to pick one of the shitcoins that ends up delivering their working product/app on schedule according to their whitepaper/roadmap you'll stand to make a fortune instantly.

going to be great times moving forward for everyone already invested in crypto.

All I'll say is have a gameplan and/or exit strategy at some point. This is a bubble, this is tulip mania, but it's still the early stages. Don't think holding for the next 30 years is a viable retirement strategy. I wouldn't want to be heavily invested after ~3 years, maybe 5 at most but it'll depend what happens between now and then

How am I moving the goalpost? If you've bothered to do any research, you'd know what I said is the general understanding in Ripple community.

If XRP was live fullscale and used by big banks, the price would be in $10-100 range.

Ripple claims that some of their partner's have completed the pilot phase and are very happy with the results. That doesn't necessarily mean that XRP is already live fullscale. In due time we will see.

Jesus fucking christ.

Banks can buy directly from Ripple for a discounted price, through the incentive program.

FI's will buy to use XRP for transactions, not to make profit on XRP price gain. Higher price per XRP actually means better liquidity and stability.

Market cap of 1-10 trillion doesn't mean that there's 1-10 trillion invested in XRP. Market cap = current value x supply. It's a useless metric for crypto valuation.

You literally just bought XRP and had to use it for the transaction. This is a point i think gets ignored by the FUDers. They dump it afterward but they still needed to buy it at some poinnt. Analysis done has said that the amount needed by banks to clear would end up with a Ripple valuation of at least $2.

XRP is overbought IMO, and maybe banks will use their own tokens, but how would that work?

Bank A creates ripple clone A.
Bank B creates ripple clone B.

Bank B doesn't see any value in clone A, and vice versa.
The token must be public for any bank to trust it. Maybe we'll see JPMorgan release their ripple clone called JPMorganCoin. But if the public doesn't have access, it is worthless.

ripple is just bitcoin, but different.
at the heart of it, digital scarcity is the tech breakthrough.
at the heart of it, there needs to be a token that is trusted by two parties.

Pretend you're JPMorgan. You can save $1 billion a year by using ripple.
You can cost your bank $10 billion more by using bitcoin.
You can lose business to the competition if you do nothing.

You can create JPMorgan Coin which is a fork of ripple. Bank Of America Coin also exists.

Does JPMorganCoin accept BOAcoin? Do they accept ripple?

You seem to think that the reason Banks still use swift is technological. They lacked blockchain or a trusted third party or digital scarcity or whatever.

That is not the reason. They kept SWIFT because it's in their own interests and there are huge amounts of regulations with regards to compliance and international transfers. They like being intermediaries. They don't want their customers to have instant transfers -- no banks save money using Ripple. They can can maybe not lose customers to other banks.

We have the bank for international settlements and central banks. This means that any major bank can settle instantly with any other major bank. There is no need for tokens. The USD and US treasuries are the tokens.

This is why Banks will be forced to drastically change in the next decade.
The government can ban crypto, that would make things more difficult.
However at the core of this, the issue is I can now send money across the globe for a cost of 0.03 cents within 10 seconds.
and I don't need a bank to do that anymore.

However I DO need some security. A place to store my crypto, and an assurance that if it gets stolen we can track down the hacker and punish them, and I can get my money back.
This is one of the biggest weaknesses. If someone can find a way to fix this problem, they'll become very wealthy.
