I initially thought bars were better, too, but I've come to understand that coins are actually easier to sell, as the buyer can easily measure, weigh, do the ping-test (for silver) etc (whereas bars are usually locked away in a plastic package) and they are a bit easier for the buyer to sell on, as well, due to popularity. They can hold numismatic value, too, which can add a little to the resale value. So, I sold most of my bars and bought bullion coins. Maples, Eagles, Britannias etc from reputable dealers are your best bet.
