October 6th, 2024 is the last day the SEC can file an appeal in the Ripple lawsuit.
If we reach October 7th, 2024, and the SEC hasn't filed an appeal, then they will have lost the opportunity to do so at that point.
We would be in the clear.
If the SEC does file an appeal, we're looking at 2 to 3 years for the Appellate Court and the Supreme Court process.

Why would Ripple suddenly embrace smart contracts after years of suggesting they weren’t needed?
Has Ripple abandoned concerns about network congestion or the primary role of XRPL as a payments-focused ledger?

Once smart contracts and the Ripple stable coin launch, we should see a flood of new shitcoins on the XRPL.
Which will finally raise the price of XRP; similar to Ethereum.
But Ripple has resisted smart contracts for years, and pushed them off onto a sidechain due to fears that they would slow down the XRPL and negatively harm their intended goal of making the XRPL a payment focused ledger.
Is Ripple self sabotaging their original goal, in favor of another?
Did they somehow secretly find a way to avoid congestion from smart contracts, and just haven't told anyone yet, including developers?

Can these questions even be asked in XSG without a knee jerk responses accusing me of wanting anons to sell and being a pajeet?
Or the standard "know what you hold, they want you out, and I just bought more XRP" response.
Are actual discussions allowed here, or is this a positive vibes only zone?

It's not completely hopeless, but it's been a long slog, with nothing to show for it price wise.
There are all of these positive developments, but they never lead to the price increasing.
There are future positive developments to look forward to.
But how do we know they too won't increase the price?
When the fuck is Ripple going to take their boot off of XRP's neck?
How many more years do we have to wait?
Any other coin would have majorly pumped a long time ago.

Will we pump on October 7th, 2024, when the SEC can no longer appeal?
If the SEC appeals, logically, we should crash.
2 to 3 more years of protracted legal proceedings will delay adoption.
When smart contracts launch on the XRPL, will they cause congestion of the network?
If it does, will that congestion scare aware banks?
What happened to Brad Garlinghouse's Peanut Butter Manifesto?
Are smart contracts a bone being throne at the community, because the SEC is going to appeal?

Will we pump when congress passes crypto legislation?
Will we pump when Ripple launches their stable coin?
Will we pump in November of 2025, when all banks will then be in full compliance with ISO20022?
Each one of these milestones that we pass without pumping, demoralizes bag holders more and more.
Are they really going to make us all wait until 2030 for the Great Reset?
Imagine if it still doesn't pump at that point.
I'm a patient man, but I have limits.
And so should everyone else bag holding XRP.
It's not all doom and gloom.
There is stuff to look forward to.
But eventually, all this positive developments need to pump XRP.
Or people are going to start hating Ripple.
The community will turn on them at some point.

if you read the article on the ripple website they basically say the EVM sidechain coming soon, and then they might write an XLS proposal for native smart contracts that will be discussed all through 2025, maybe.

personally i think stellar and ripple have a deeper connection than is acknowledged (they always move together and share much of their structure) and XRPL implementing smart contracts might be similar to Stellar's soroban rollout, similar to Stellar implementing the AMM on their dex 2 or 3 years before XRPL did. i could be wrong here though, overactive pattern recognition and whatnot.

another way to read this is, RippleX giving some of their employees make-work to occupy them in the time before XRPL starts getting used by the financial system.

or maybe Ripple really is as dumb and capricious as they seem. who knows. it's funny that they are seemingly pissing off their core constituency and driving away key players in their ecosystem (XRPL Labs, XRPLF).

i also heard that monica long has made some decisions hurting XRPL's chances of integration with some very big players (G7 central banks etc) but that could just be rumors or disinfo being spread by people who hate ripple. idk

i would read this as "EVM Sidechain coming soon and maybe smart contracts will come in 2026 despite running contrary to everything we have said for the last 8 years, maybe"

i do know that RippleX, in their desperation to attract dev talent, has brought on some people from EVM world who are very pro-Ethereum. so perhaps in incorporating feedback from people who think blockchain/Web3 IS ethereum, they are unwittingly introducing mission creep/drifting from the original vision in a way that isn't helpful. but again that's just speculation.

i wonder what the discussions behind the scenes are like right now. it would be great if the SEC lawsuit could end and institutional adoption could start. i am so tired.

wietse's letter certainly seems like an ultimatum.

>The future of smart contracts on the XRP Ledger hangs in the balance. Ripple's next moves will definitively show whether it truly values ecosystem contributions or prefers a more centralized, corporate-driven approach to development.

wonder what that "centralized, corporate driven approach" sentence entails (it implies Wietse/XRPL Labs have heard something behind the scenes about how they are getting cut out) and if it implies Ripple outsourcing smart contracts to Axelar/some other ETH VC mafia-owned solution

i remember when NFTs were coming out, UNL people were worried about it breaking the XRPL, skyrocketing fees etc

maybe this isn't a big deal. i mean stellar did it with soroban and that seems to be working alright aside from some minor bugs, and nobody building on it. i still wish Ripple would drop a huge bag of money on Wietse and the crew though, they certainly deserve it (and Ripple's apparently dropped large bags of money on other less deserving teams before, someone told me "XRP Punks" and "OnXRP" both got 7 figure grants/investments for their bullshit)

This is a huge part of why I want some price growth before 2030.
We don't actually know which faction of our rulers is in control of the financial sector.

Group A wants to enslave the entire world, except for their tiny group. And they want to give everyone a chance to get rich beforehand. It's on them, if they miss the opportunity. Ripple keeps XRP's price as a stablecoin so institutions can buy in cheap. And to make it less likely that investors buy XRP.

Group B also wants to enslave the entire world, except for their tiny group. But they don't want to give anyone a chance to get rich. They think it's funny that people are trying to escape their future enslavement. They force Ripple to keep XRP's price as a stablecoin, and allow Ripple to make it seem like XRP will eventually make bag holders rich. When in fact, there is no chosen coin available to the public to buy, and never will be. But they prefer to keep that hidden. To them, it will be the height of humor watching people waste over a decade of their life investing and hoping in XRP. Only to find out in 2030 that there was never any hope to be had. They love watching people suffer and cruelty in general. Ripple and XRP provide great entertainment to them.

So to the anons who say, "it's always been the year 2030" and you just need to wait 6 more years,
it's a gamble because we don't actually know who's running the show.
We could just as easily end up being fucked over in 2030, as getting rich.
It would be much better if we saw some price growth before then.

The appeal will be on the security status of XRP, the fine must be paid due to the sales of unregistered securities to institutional investors. Last week, I would have said there was a high likelihood that the SEC was not going to appeal.
Ripple announcing smart contracts coming to the XRPL, means they are going after retail's money.
Banks have no interest or need for smart contracts.
XRPL developers wanted smart contracts 4 years ago, and Ripple said no, because they were going after institutions.
Now suddenly Ripple changes their minds and wants retail money.
And top of this, Ripple wants to delay paying their fine.
These two things combined, make me very worried that Ripple thinks the SEC is going to file an appeal after all.
An appeal means 2 to 3 years of additional legal uncertainty.
2 to 3 years where Ripple will want an alternative revenue stream from retail, since US banks wont touch XRP until the appeals are done.
Right when we were about to be free from this bullshit.

If congress passes laws regulating crypto, but the new laws don't define all crypto as non securities, then the appeal will continue.
When ISO20022 is fully implemented in November 2025, it won't help XRP at all, if there is an ongoing SEC appeal.
US banks aren't going to touch XRP with a ten foot pole if there is an appeal.
Imagine congress passing crypto regulations, and every other crypto having legal clarity, except XRP, due to an SEC appeal.

I know there are anons in here that will say it's all a stage play, and 2030 is the real year.
But that ignores the damage an appeal will do.
Other crypto will eat XRP's lunch if their is an appeal.
Look at how much ETH (which is slow and expensive to use) has grown since the SEC sued Ripple.
It's like a referee pulling out a crowbar and busting one of the team's quarterback's kneecap in front of everyone.
If the SEC appeals, that's 2 to 3 more years of stagnation in the US.
Our only hope at that point is that this is a stage play.
And that Trump is selected to be President by our true rulers, so he can fire Gensler and appoint a new SEC chair who immediately drops the appeal.

Exactly. Everyone was talking about how the SEC wouldn't appeal because the crypto landscape has changed. Instead of just paying the fine and moving on, Ripple is putting up these laughable "roadblocks", which feels more like a tantrum than a real strategy. It's like an angry kid refusing to share candy, but his parents will make him do it anyway, just later. Money Goblin tweeted that he had a conversation with Orchestra Finance in the past FEW WEEKS, and those conversations CONVINCED him that contracts on the mainnet could work if key challenges are addressed. wonder who the blockchain partner is on this
https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Finance/Japan-megabanks-to-tap-blockchain-and-SWIFT-for-instant-trade-payments
>Cross-border settlement system aims to slash transaction costs for businesses
TOKYO -- Japan's three megabanks are working on a framework for instant international payments that uses blockchain technology on top of existing payment infrastructure, eyeing commercial use next year, Nikkei has learned.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Mizuho Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group will begin trials as early as this fall with more than 10 other lenders in Japan and overseas. The banks envision the setup as being mainly for transactions between companies, such as trade settlement, with the possibility of consumer usage in the future.

Currently, international payments through the SWIFT system go through multiple correspondent banks. This process can take under an hour if all goes smoothly, or up to a month if a transaction lacks information needed for anti-money-laundering precautions, for example.

The new system will use stablecoins on the blockchain that are tied to the value of different currencies, which will be sent directly between banks via the existing SWIFT infrastructure, allowing transactions to be completed in less than a second.

I don't hate them, I'm just being realistic and trying to think critically. It's easy to sit on a 10K bag and type "KNOW WHAT YOU HOLD" bullshit like a bot. I'm overinvested, not just financially, but I've been in this since the UNHWI days, and my patience is wearing thin. It feels like they just don't want us to make money and will keep this theatre going until the vast majority gives up. I’d love to see your mentally healthy reaction when the appeal is filed, XRP drops to 30 cents, and stays there for another 3 years.

the standard response to this fud is that, if it costs $1 to send $100 using ripple pay without xrp and $.01 to send $100 with XRP then the banks who don't hold XRP will be at a competitive disadvantage and lose market share; this (according to schizo lore) provides enterprises with the rationale to use XRP instead of Ripple's SaaS enterprise payment solutions.

yes, this "final shakeout" thing is a memetic hazard, similar to the "flak is heaviest over the target" thing used by the Qanon ARG. if i had to guess, this was an intentional design choice by the viral marketing contractors who designed the campaign and made the riddler posts, insider posts, sockpuppet accounts and so forth.

on the other hand, it might end up being factually true that the breakdown of the old system is what ends up spurring the use of XRPL by all the corporations, banks, central banks and multilateral institutions that Ripple has demonstrably partnered with and been conducting tests with over the last half decade, which appear to be either completed or nearing completion.

who knows? maybe it's all a delusion and we were just being taken for a ride by cynical psychos using us for liquidity. or maybe we're savants who see patterns of a higher order where normies just see chaos. time will tell or, as the Q people say, "future proves past."

No dumbass, it’s to bypass having to sell XRP to institutions which is how/why everything got fucked in the first place. Ripple Pay just uses its XRP in house and then charges a transaction fee to the customer. What don’t you fucking understand? Why are you trying to make a simple explanation complicated? It’s still vastly less expensive than the fees JP Morgan and other SWIFT’ies charge. You should consider dying in a fire perhaps.

XRP's price falling, is just our rulers being thoughtful, merciful, and kind.
They want to give EVERYONE an opportunity to buy at cheap prices.
And since there are always new children being born, and thus new teenagers getting their very first jobs,
there will always be new people that are able to buy for the very first time.
There are people who dismissed XRP and / or crypto in general for years, but have just now done research on it, changed their minds, and want to buy for the first time.
And there are people that are so poor, that despite the fact they have been buying XRP for 3+ years, they still somehow haven't met their make it bag goals;
or they continuously set infinitely larger make it bag goals for themselves and exceed them.
So unfortunately, XRP's moon date will have to be delayed by x number of years, since it would be cruel not to allow all these groups infinite opportunities to buy in cheaply.
We should all be thankful for these never ending opportunities, and it's FUD if you feel otherwise.
And anyone that feels demoralized, is weak, and should just sell.
Or is a pajeet trying to trick people into selling.
They want you out.
