Lets say a coin is a at 1$. That means people are bidding and asking at points above it.

People want to buy less than 1$, and others want to sell above 1$. Makes sense right?

So when everyone wants to get the fuck out, the sellers are willing to sell below $1. When enough people do that, the lines are redrawn.

The "money" is really in the value people place on it. It doesn't exist as so far as the market's collective psychology about it does. It doesn't vanish, the collective greed and good feelings about it does, leaving FUD and a lower value.
