this is the lid for a pressure fit squared kook tube I made for an anon on here. had fun but the amount of effort for a custom tube is not worth it versus a standard design where the customization comes from size and color. I didn't charge him for it because it was a fun learning experience (I don't like pressure fit, details are hard to make pretty on filament printers, etc).

someone said that if the insides of these were lined with felt and a rubber seal was added to the lid they would buy it. holds 10 silver bars in a really sturdy container. takes up more space than just dumping them in a cigar box BUT there's a greater sense of security knowing they're in a protective tube. I did try to make the tube as small as possible.

Full Stack after one year of stacking
End results more than 5 ounces of Gold and 5.5Kg of Silver
I bought the 100 gramm and 5.5Kg of Silver last Summer during the dip and the wanted to save a bot for an ounce of Gold since premiums for quarter and half ounces where to high but when i had enough for another ounce prices all of a sudden skyrocket and i decided to wait a bit until another dip came along
After the Trump Assaination i decided that a dip would not come for a long time and bought 2 ounces of Gold

Fucking hate that website. You can find interesting lots in some sections, but I wont buy from there out of spite. Also never found any good auction for gold pieces.

For every offer you need to calculate the total price cuz they don't include fees. That thing alone should be illegal. And their expert thing is clearly a scam.

You'll find better prices on eBay if you want to buy from private sellers; lots especially. Auctions don't extend after every offer and the total price is what you offer. Also better feedback system and buyer protection. And if eBay Extra is available for your country/account you also get some kind of cashback via points that you can spend on other non-ingot/coins orders.

When you trade debt receipts for PMs you're at an advantage even with a 100% premium. Granted you want to be as close to spot as possible, but owning PMs is infinitely superior to stocks and crypto in the long run. Especially when we see the derivative paper market amount versus physical. The true value of 5toz of silver should buy you a decent car, 3toz of gold should be able to buy you a nice house with acres to go w/ it. just an idea, and it might be a bad one, but if you do tubes that fit air tites for different bullion rounds, you could do tops that reflect the coins that would fit that size (eagles / kangaroos, brits, maples). they could be add on purchases or something, but it would make it easier to identify what would be in the tube.

That's a solid idea; more of a swap fit kind of thing. Some kind of standardized design with variations dependent on what coin or round may be in the tube could justify a premium. I wonder how much leeway I have around copyrights for these designs. I would almost have to make unique designs for ASEs or kooks to circumvent it.

How much silver is enough? Or at least until you start scaling back?

I've been stacking for about 3 years currently and after a big haul this weekend I've gone past 500 oz of silver. I usually spend about £500 a month on eBay buying silver but wondering if should just switch exclusively to gold now. Majority of my gold was inherited and I usually just buy the odd sovereign here and there so I'd have to probably wait 4 months to get an Oz coin.

I don't think the world is going to end and we'll be trading silver for food as society collapses, so for me it's more about avoiding inflation and not trusting the banks. Gold seems easier to manage as all my silver takes up 2 Peli cases and is very difficult to move whereas my gold could fit in my pocket.

Kek I just moved like 4-5 bags full of silver out of my old house and into the new one. Around 1400 oz. Sure it’s heavy but it’s also a good workout.

I'm losing my mind over this flying eagle penny
My mom's friend had me look through her inherited coin collection since I've been known pretty much my entire life as "the coin guy" and there wasn't much when I looked through it. Some silver dollars, silver dimes, 40% Kennedys, Buffalo, Clad Ikes, V-nickels and some foreign shit. Maybe $300 total on a good day. But this flying eagle penny was thrown in with the foreign stuff (I don't think they recognized that it was American, because it's so worn) and it's tripping me out. That date COULD be an 1858, or it could be an 1856. if it's a 58, it's a little $20. If it's an 1856, it's a $5,000 coin since it only had a few thousand minted and was largely just a pattern piece, that had some minting for collectors. And it's not JUST the date that has me wondering. The wear, too, is unusual. A coin THIS worn should be pretty much flat, but there's still separation between the devices and the fields. That's a really good sign, because all 1856 flying eagles were proofs, there would be more separation. And the letters SEEM to be the larger font of the earlier strikes, another good sign. But that FUCKING number is making me crazy. At some angles I swear that's a 6, but it could've been an 8 that got some dings. Worst part is the usual numismatic expert I see isn't in town right now, he won't be back for a couple of weeks so I just gotta stew on this thing.

Must be a company/agency thing. Full retirement age at which you are eligible to claim 100 percent of the benefit Social Security has increased from 65 years old to 66 and 6 months for those born in 1957, 66 and 8 months for those born in 1958, and will rise incrementally over the next several years to 67.

These changes were mandated by Congress in 1983 as part of a law that strengthened Social Security's finances.

1983 would be Ronald Reagan's presidency.

Is it worth selling coins I paid a very high premium on now and re-investing the money, or just continue to sit on them?

When I first started back in 2018 I was more a coin collector than stacker and didn't know what I was doing. I assume the Royal Mint was a great place to start and as you can see from pic related, I paid some very hefty premiums. I started stacking properly about 3 years ago, making sure to only buy at spot or a maximum of 5% over.

Checking the coins on eBay, some will either sell for the price I bought them at or slightly lower. With the majority of them being of the Queen, I suspect their collector value will go up over the years.

>>58769903
Platinum and Palladium are truly meme metals, their value hasn't changed in the past 50 odd years really and their industrial use isn't as wide-spread as gold and silver.
>>58770123
That would be true if you were talking about moving bars weighing 100kg+ each. Moving 20kg of silver isn't difficult.
>>58770042
I started off as a collector and not a stacker so my initial purchase had a very high premium on them. Now I buy 0.925 for it's melt value. I have a few sellers on eBay that I'll set my maximum as spot and that usually gets me 5-20oz a week.

I've heard that the Queen, because of the length of her reign, was the most-minted person in history. I don't see those coins gaining any value any time soon (though they may carry a slight premium over Charles).
I feel your pain about cashing out of an investment. My father, rest his soul, was obsessed with US state quarters in his later years. He left me with around 30 *pounds* of quarters, which will likely never be worth more than face value. I took out 2 complete sets of the states for my sons and I'm very tempted to cash the rest in and buy bullion...

I think it's more about practicality. If SHTF then it's a lot easier to high-tail it with a couple of oz of gold in your pocket (or up your arse) than to try and move the equivalent in silver. Look at Syria and Afghanistan. Sure you can see the signs and prepare accordingly, but when the chaos starts you'll probably be running or trying to catch a plane and trying to drag a case of 20kg of silver will be difficult.
Space is another issue. I have 2 Peli cases filled to the brim with silver, their equivalent value in gold would fit in my pocket easily.

Moving it as in moving house is one thing, moving it as in smuggling it so no one robs you blind while you flee the country after a violent collapse is another. For ease of travel, gold does have a distinct advantage if you need to be light or covert but you won't gain a ton from that by stacking gold outside of the most extreme of cases. Outside of that silver's weight disadvantage can be overcome by buying a bigger box and not being a bitch.

>Is it worth selling coins I paid a very high premium on now
It's unfortunate that you paid a high premium for coins for which you've lost interest - are willing to sell at or below purchase price. Generally I'd still keep the coins. "Back in 2018" is only six year ago. If you think that's a long time, then yes, you've made a mistake. High-premium coins are definitely not a short-term speculation investment. Think of these as heirloom coins meant for your kids and/or little pieces of art that you enjoy as such, and therefore not mind you've paid a lot nor want to sell now. Pic related. I paid waaay too much, have seen it go for nearly half on ebay, and the relief is mostly made of resin, but it still represents a lot in my life and I'm glad to have it. It helps if you can afford an occasional splurge.
You've got them now, so keep them (unless you really need the cash). Mostly, understand the need for patience grows with the premiums paid.

has anyone tried to get a coin die made with CNC? It seems like a lot of die makers just take a 2d image and extrude the detail out to one depth but I want something more sculptural like real coins.

How long was the wait from the AD, and did you have to have a purchase history of other Rolex watches to get that one?

I just texted all 3 that I’ve bought from and one got back to me. She said they could special order it for me with 20% down and it would take a few weeks. I don’t think purchase history is required with precious metal watches, but I bought 2 DJs from her for my wife and I last year.
