58756775 No.58756775 [Reply] [Original]

Why does anyone that is 40+ think that dedicating themselves entirely to their jobs is ok? They come in early, stay late even when there's nothing to do, and rarely take vacations or time off. Do they not have anything else to live for? Do they really believe that earning extra good boy points with the boss will lead to a raise?

I also seen where they feel guilty just sitting around when we busted our asses for the past 5 hours. Or that they feel they gotta earn the measly 20 bucks an hour we get paid.

I mostly see this behavior in people over 40, while those under 40 seem much more chill.

Because they have made it a habit and understand that in order to be paid they actually have to generate value. They probably also realise that running a whole company just for the equivalent of a doctors wages isn’t worth dedicating your whole life when you can just work, fuck around, have fun and take the motorbike out on weekends with no stress

It's just a boomer and gen X thing - "Work hard, go above and beyond, get yourself out there"
Millennials are more easy going - "Do what needs to be done, but I clock out the second I am able to"
Zoomers give no fucks - "What can I get away with not doing but still be paid"

>> No.58756861

For many reasons. From keeping your own thoughts at bay, societal and or family pressure, the culture and values they learned, shame and even for pussy. I know many boomers in my country who feel very proud, not of their work, but of how many years they paid taxes. Then, they have to wait for months for an appointment at the hospital, they have to wait for as long as the neet or the refugee. But they seem happy about that.

>> No.58756911

Is it a bad thing Gen X/Boomers actually care to be genuine about their work and do a good job? I swear you faggots are so fucking stupid and this is why the quality of work has gone down hill for everything. No wonder there are mass layoffs for bullshit work like tech.
Zoomers, especially female entry levels, are just retards who can't account for anything whenever they make mistakes and pretend nothing is their fault. We really want this good for nothing mentality in our work force, huh.

Kek, I always thought it is dumb how many people in Europe say they pay 50 dollars for xyz health service. But have to pay 50% of there income into the system.
That aside flexing for paying taxes is dumb.
Flexing for tax "avoidance" is based.

This makes me seethe, I've lived a pretty miserable life and I'm pushing 30 with no real future ahead of me. Everyone just keeps telling me to go to a trade school, break my body for 35 years, and then retire to whatever livable home I can afford and enjoy it while my body fails me.

The older you get the more life sucks.

In your 20s or maybe early 30s it's easy to have a social life, after that everyone is busy with marriage and kids. Video games and other distractions no longer have appeal.

Work is one area where you can feel some sense of purpose and progress in life.

You would have a point if society and the political system in any livable country consisted of anything except extracting maximum value out of the middle class whilst importing as many "refugees" as possible.
At least if you manage to live long enough without becoming dependent on the system by virtue of having kids or marrying, there is no point in contributing to it. But by all means, keep scooping water out of this sinking ship with a bucket.
