The problem is the pricing on the options is waaaaaay off given the short interest. It's one of those paradoxes that causes big problems for hedgies. They can't walk the price down to $10 with extreeeemely low volatility and not expect someone to walk in and slurp up more obligations than they can reasonably cover. Because if options pricing models took into consideration available real share count then it would be an obvious indicator that one of the two is mispriced.
They did this too themselves. The OCC allowing options trading at all is ridiculous on its face given the naked short position they are in. I would be careful buying those contracts in lieu of shares because the OCC defaulting on your GME calls is in no way the same serious nature as a naked short defaulting and the system stealing shares.
