Taking a company off of government contracts has very little effect, so what the gov does is removes them from the entire supply chain. opened my box of silver after well over a year, a few of the coins (2015 pandas, 2022 Australian dragon coin bar) have some crazy tarnish spots.
The tarnish on pandas is in the same spot as the fingernail cutout in the capsule. Inb4 tin panda - all of my silver is tested.
Does it mean the air is too sulfuric or something? How do I fix this?

My nan's old "25yrs since the war" commemoratives from 1970 have the exact same type of very localized tarnish as your dragon. They've been stored without capsules in a drawer with other silverware (without the same spots), so I suspect it's got something to do with the production itself (all four coins have the exact same tarnish spots).

I have coins inside capsules inside tubes inside a safe inside a closet, and I was inspecting them last week and noticed a few of them have tarnished. Silver is kind of a shitty metal, and it tarnishing, with seemingly no way to prevent it, is one of the reasons I prefer gold now. Idk of there was anything done during the minting process, or if the specific capsules contributed to the tarnishing, or what, but after seeing tarnish one a few coins, despite all the steps I took, it just reinforced my already existing preference for gold.

Maybe not, from what I noticed, as soon as I left parts in tubes, I got milk stains, and mainly the first at the cap.

I think that capsules are the best solution, you just have to buy good capsules, those sold with the parts are very often of poor quality, sometimes they themselves create large opaque white spots in the middle, because there has been contact between the capsules for a long time.

For absolute best protection in full autismo mode, you can buy anti-tarnish paper, cut thin strips, and line the inside rim with the paper. You may need to buy larger capsules (40.6mm) to make room for the paper. Protip: put the coin in first, then feed the paper.
Alternatively, you can slip a large piece in whatever container holds the capsuled coins. Less work, not as certain, the paper may need periodic replacing, depending on how tight the seal and how often you open it.
As for the dragon bar, the ziploc baggie is shit for protection. Full autismo mode again: buy archival-grade plastic sheet (document) protectors, and use a seal-a-meal to make custom sleeves. Wrapping the bar with the paper before inserting is tricky, but can be done.

As far as gold:
-avoid bars, unless you can get them at least 2.5% cheaper than any big 6 bullion coin

Meanwhile, all the silver I've ever sold was at a loss, and if I sold today most would break about even, and many would be at a loss (and as for my high-premium stuff I memed myself into buy, lol just lol).
