The fact that nowadays everyone, their mothers, their mothers' minority houseworkers and those minorities dogs are invested in the market in one way or another is honestly pretty demoralizing.
Investing is no longer something you can spend some of your time studying to gain a financial edge in life.
Investing used to be a sure-fire way to get ahead of the pack and build generational wealth, even if starting from humble beginnings.
Now that almost everyone is doing, it's just become the new baseline that might barely allow you to keep your head above water.
Now it's just another thing on top of the pile of things a modern individual HAS to do just to maintain an semblance of human dignity.

Then again, I have no idea what the "new" ways to get ahead in life are, or if they even exist anymore. So maybe I'm exactly where I'm meant to be - on the way to become human cattle once I inevitably fail to keep up with the changes.

Basically my exact same situation. I keep my expenses low and just invest in whatever I feel like and actively trade a few things here and there. I have some physical silver, 300 WMT at a discount through work (that I write calls on), some short-dated bonds, and have my retirement fund set to international/emerging markets.

For my discretionary investing, I'm currently bullish on copper and silver over the next 5-10 years, and think that agricultural inputs will be important, so think oil and fertilizer. Specifically I'm long on IPI and OXY for various reasons

Water and sand are also on my radar, as is growth in Mexico and latam. Uranium is important too, but if you don't have a position wait for it to cool off a bit.

I'm a WMT wagie in Canada, unfortunately.
We have a stock payroll deduction program where they will match 15% of your contribution, up to a maximum of $1,800 USD per year (of your money). Effectively this means if you cap it out, it's a free $270/year just for doing it, but also gives around a 13% buffer before you lose money on it, and being a boring stable stock, is unlikely to happen (though we had impressive gaps on ERs). One benefit of being (((Canadian))) is that as our dollar shits itself, it also increases my gains from the stock being in USD, like most of my portfolio.

As for logistics, it's managed by Computershare. When I have 100 shares, I transfer them out to my margin account on another brokerage, and then transfer them into a TFSA. This creates a taxable event where I "dispose" of the asset so I have to claim capital gains or losses; my previous bad trades offset this. Once it's in the TFSA I just write month CCs at like 20-25 delta and can expect another 1-2% on top of whatever growth and divvy they pay. I'm not an insider, so I have no restrictions on my stock

1. just dca as much as you can into msft* with each paycheck
2. hold long and reinvest dividends, don't sell anything
3. ????
4. profit

pick an individual winning stock instead of an etf as you will get better gains--just make sure its a tech megacap or you'll fail to outperform the s&p.

About 60% of adults are investing, with almost all of them doing it in the form of having a 401k. And most of them don't have large salaries so you can still easily finance-mog them. They're putting in 5% of like a $30,000 annual salary's biweekly paycheck off their first job as a kid so maybe $50 with an 80% employer match so $90 every two weeks. That'll get them up to six figures in 15 years if they get 3% raises every year.
Rarely do I see people even holding down a job consistently for 15 years.

Someone barely getting by shouldn't be concerned with retiring they should invest into an education or something. Tax deferral is also dog shit compared to a Roth where you keep all the gains. There's a reason its contribution limit is horrifically low. I swear 401ks only exist to prop up the oligarchs by pumping money into their bags. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_pricing
>Base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) refers to corporate tax planning strategies used by multinationals to "shift" profits from higher-tax jurisdictions to lower-tax jurisdictions or no-tax locations where there is little or no economic activity, thus "eroding" the "tax-base" of the higher-tax jurisdictions using deductible payments such as interest or royalties

>Parent company has three subsidiaries with operations in Africa, Bermuda, and Canada
>Company A makes a thing that costs $5 and sells it to Company B for $10, making a $5 profit at 40% effective tax
>Company B buys it for $10 and sells it to Company C for $80, making a $70 profit at 8% tax
>Company C then sells it at $85 to the public or other companies and makes a $5 profit at 40% tax
>This lets the parent company dodge a huge amount of tax

This is frowned upon but still legal, since it does not follow Arm's Length accounting rules set by the OECD and WEF and shit.
But what's to stop me from making a shell company in Bermuda, functioning as a legally distinct middleman between the two sister companies, buying from A and selling to C, then retaining all the profits and paying out the parent over like a 5 year term with fixed cash flows, and taking a 1-2% cut for my service?

the IRS wants you to pay as you go, otherwise they have no revenue to cover their bills, imagine if everyone waited until april 15 with some filing for extension? then the IRS and the government would get their tax revenue only once a year, that's like getting your salary paid in one lump sump once a year, very inefficient when the gov has running obligations and expenditures year round

just make sure you are witholding enough and you won't get penalized, you can easily calculate your estimated taxes using online calculators and withold just a little below that to stay good

In TurboTax it said that the IRS "prefers" that you pay your taxes as you go (quarterly) and that you "might" incur penalties if you don't. It doesn't list the rate anywhere but you can find them online. $190 is 4.98% of $3,810 which looks awfully similar to the interest you might pay on a similar loan.

I did taxes for 7 years and was halfway done with the CPA exam before I quit. But I used to do an architect's return who made over $1 million annually and didn't pay quarterly estimates because he determined that by keeping it in his brokerage account he would earn more than the underpayment penalty. Idk how true it actually was but he was ok with paying a few grand each in year in underpayment penalties

I guess so if he just invested in spy and got those 8-10% yearly gains while the underpayment was still nothing. A different option would be to lump sum pay the IRS on a 0% apr card what you would expect to need withheld for the year.. Cut your withholding at work to zero and just re-invest into treasuries that expire and allow you to pay off the taxes before the zero % apr wins. Paying by card costs something like 1.68%, and you can usually get a card that will still give %1 cash back.

TA can help, but without fundamentals it doesn't work at all. It is the real world causing this. The war in Ukraine started this new bullrun. The attempt of change/shift in global power. We simply have another new coldwar between Russia and the US, like in the past. The coldwar of the 70-80 never really ended, as NATO still existed and expanded. The russians were simply naive to think the US would also stop its expansion and global politics. The war now pretty much proves that the US is still doing it. I don't think Russia actively helped the Taliban or Iraq when the US invaded. You might say it was in self-defense for the US, but c'mon, we at least know IRAQ wasn't. And China now joins as well as others that were always kept down by the west.

TA can help in a sense that there are patterns which are reoccuring. Patterns that are created because of market psychology. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point. But it can also backfire as the big players know that everybody is watching those things too. But often they also materialize/realize. Like bullflags or bearflags etc. I'm not saying that these pattern magically create, people buying and selling do it. Even identfying supports and resistances is TA.

I'm no fan though of those 10000 crossing lines. Chances are high people are doing it wrong anyways

My argument is that TA *IS* fundamentals in numerical form; human psychology in real-time statistical form. Two sides of the same coin. Especially on longer time frames (ie. 1 month, 2 month, 3 month, 4 month, 6 month, etc.) you start to see the momentum line up with major events without even knowing the specific event to happen: much like peaks and troughs of tides.

Not arguing "fundamentals" is important; but the cyclical patterns of human behavior is also another avenue of reliability.

>Why do you disappear for so long? This general is your home. Stop ghosting us
the astute among you may have noticed that my tripcode is different.
That is because the original one is currently perma-banned
That’s actually going to expire eventually, but it’s less fun posting without the original one.

Also, I’ve just been really busy.
I actually got contacted by Meta around a month ago, and there’s a good chance I can score a job making $600k-$800k from what I’ve read.
Also my youtube channel is actually a decent size now, and I see organic posts about it occasionally

scoopsies you have reached the point of cubicle cuck dominance that you need to ignore my sexual advances and infiltrate the tech industry properly for the benefit of your /smg/ bros. Take the job at META. Work your way up the ranks so that one day you can pin down Zuck in privacy and whisper in his ear "buy NAK" before penetrating his bussy. We are all counting on you. You need to be the JC Denton of the tech world. This is your destiny.

You get a bachelor's RN, work for a year making $75k, then do a master's program, graduate and start making $200k.
Even if he stops at RN the dude is better off forever.

>bobby lee podcast he talks about going onto SA to find a hooker and says the prices they ask are absolutely insane
is it SF or where?
location is going to influence how exploitative the women are
>Some bitches ask for $50k a month
well don’t fucking go for those ones

>how much do you pay on average to attract clown pussy
I do $500 and if they ask for more, I chat with other girls instead
I can even get $300 or lower if I’m feeling up for driving further, can get a girl to commute, or go for chicks that are a bit older.
Another option is to just put “sugar daddy” in your tinder profile, and you can probably even just score a lot of nudes for free or get hot chicks for a decent amount less

You seriously get girls of that caliber for $500 a month? I live in michigan, bitches here are demoralized. You really think I can get a qt trap to come to my apartment and I can brutalize her for $500?

that’s really the main thing giving me cold feet about trying with Meta rn is that I don’t want to have to be put into a pinch, and I heard their culture is pretty aggressive and political

it’s probably cheaper over there, but they also have pricing discretion and can pick, so it’s also going to depend on how attractive that they think you are
