House: dumb dumb your house is 10x nicer with nicer amenities around it
car: your car is 10x nicer and safer and faster and its not even a 2x here so they use percentages
rent: you never had so many rights, choices, space safety etc, move somewhere where rent is cheaper and this percentage changes
income: If you can't make more than 56,0000k a year when the 2022: median income for Black households was $52,860, then honestly just kill yourself or be happy with what you got.

Honestly I think the issue at this point is "average". I make exactly 203k salary and have about $2 million saved in my 20s. The $2 million might be an exception because of Bitcoin but my friends also all make about 200k or so salaried, have nice enough houses in a major US city, mostly all have kids or a wife, and generally seem fine. Nobody is "barely hanging on".

Then I go onto Instagram/TikTok/Reddit/here and hear people saying the world is on fire, everyone is making like 60k and can't afford anything, etc. It just doesn't seem that bad.

What do you do to make $200k/yr in your 20s and not be a literal slave 100hr/week somewhere like an IBD

Yeah I do know a couple of people who make that but you have no life at all, you sit in Excel for 80-100 hours per week modelling.

Household amenities like ovens and fridges are only more efficient. Still the same technology
>the main inflation for cars is due to un needed safety features
>housing has never seen this rate ever in history
>the average household income is still way lower than it should be.

The only reason why it was a good time because everything so far has been imported Pennies on the dollar since the 60s. More home made goods are gonna cost more obviously.

The quality of life between then and now has not 10x or anywhere close to that. It’s not even double compared to living back then. In fact most equipment made before then are still in top condition built to last lifetimes.

Your AC equipment is still going to degrade over 20 years, cars needing to be replaced, everything is still the same shotty quality for the last 60 years.

In the 80s a brand new BMW i3 costed 12k. Not even 40 years later it’s 50k for a regular trim model. Explain to me in short form why a new car is x5 its price but is no where near the x5 sticker price. Their fuel economy only went up to 31mpg in 2024 vs 21mpg in 1985.

I make less than 56k a year and I live comfortably with no debt or mortgage in a house that I own with my wife and son.
My very existence makes people richer than me seethe uncontrollably.
