Mexico in particular makes sense within the NA economy; you get a lot of resources from Canada, process it in Mexico, and sell to the US and Canada. It has a lot of factories and a huge wealth divide, which I think is good because it means cheap labor. It also has a pretty robust electronics industry, which people seem to forget, and it has a very short distance between coasts, compared to the US borders, and has access to Latin America, Gulf of Mexico, overseas, and east and west coasts; in addition, companies like CP Rail have contiguous rail between all three countries

South America has a ton of copper and silver, but shitty jurisdictions.
