Bonuses and raises are expenses, so if you're supposed to get those in Q1 but the higher ups know Q1 isn't going to look great, they push that expense out to the next quarter (assuming they think Q2 will be better--if not they just don't give you money). That makes the financial reports look good and you get to miss out on 25% of your raise. Thanks for taking one for the team, anon
