I don't trade it but I do trade BITX based on the 200 day moving average overlayed on BTCUSD. When bitcoin closes above the 200 day I long BITX, when it closes under I go to cash. To me MSTR is a leveraged play on bitcoin much like BITX so that's how I would treat it. I don't like trading BTCUSD on anything lower than the daily time frame since I don't really care for the intraday action. If one were really enamored by MSTR I would time my entries based on that bitcoin 200 day average. The only problem with the 200 day is occasionally the underlying gets so extended above it that the leveraged instrument would take a massive drawdown if we timed our exit based on the 200. NVDA and NVDL right now are an excellent example of this problem. The easiest answer is as the price gets extended, move to a shorter moving average. I'd look at the bitcoin 100 day moving average or even 50 and when it dips beneath it I would strongly consider selling my MSTR and reassessing for the next entry. A couple of great books on timing entries and exits are:
High Probability Trading Strategies by Robert Miner
Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets by John Murphy
If you read nothing but those two books and practiced it you'd be ahead of the game by a mile. Hand drawn trend lines by a skilled technician are the next step beyond moving averages and where you become a market God so focus on that too
