Im the guy who sold his gold before the bullrun. I think I figured out what I will do now. I thought long and hard about it and the initial plan was still best.

I will sell my fancy car for 40k even tho I wanted 45k but seemd too complicated so I will sell it to some car trader.

This together with the fiat I pulled out of gold (120k more or less) I will reinvest in gold. But this time I will not make the mistake of buying 1kg bars but I will take smaller amounts so I can more easily sell small amounts when I need cash.

Now the only question is when I should buy. Probably gold will pull back somewhat below 2k of no?

What would you do with the other half

Aso, if you are going to hold less than 5 years. Is it better to buy paper gold?

I am trying to bridge a few years where I live off savings, so that I keep my earnings inside my company and take profits only in 4 years or so at a lower tax rate

So either I just leave 150K of fiat in my account which I slowly consume over the next 4 years without any investment in the mean time

Or I in the meantime put it in gold but in smaller amounts so I sell when I need

I am now even thinking can I not invest that money while it is tied up for 4 years in my company

Maybe I need to ask my accountant what do

I don't really enjoy it. It is giving me a great deal of stress to tell you the truth. Sure when I am blasting it on the highway over 220kph I really enjoy it but that is only a few times a year. Every other day of the year is stressing that some fucking proletarian is not damaging my car.

Really I think I could only enjoy a nice car if I were a lot richer, rich enough to live a more isolated existence far away from daily interactions with the unwashed masses.

You weren't happy with the gains it made while you held it, I don't understand why you're sad about the exact same gains it made after you sold it. Like you complained it wasn't going up fast enough. Then it goes up a little bit and suddenly you're worried you missed a tiny gain. Wtf? You're not going to get rich off gold.

Unless your income is destroyed by other people becoming bankrupt which leads the government to print money which devalues the currency in order to get income back online but then it creates massive moral hazards and worsens the problem and the can kicking results in a society in decline and the rise of socialism and the public then become confused and don't understand how things work and think they can tax their way out of the problem and the government runs out of suckers to buy bonds so it resorts to just outright money printing despite the inflationary impact on prices which makes them rise higher and higher so eventually you get a collapse of the economy not from the 'rising tide' but rather the political response which becomes closer to outright theft than some kind of social contract.
Not to mention the 'rich people' end up just being a bunch of fucking morons who have nothing but paper assets including the deeds and certificates to all their 'ownership' which means absolutely nothing to a socialist government.

$182 was about 3 weeks labor at a min wage job, which I suppose might still be true except nobody in my area can pay min wage anymore because nobody would work for it. So now it's closer to 2 weeks labor.

It was roughly the rent of a 2 bedroom apartment in my town, and still is.

It was easily a mortgage payment on a 2 bedroom house back then, which ran about $10,000 or so in my town. Now I suspect it's about half a mortgage payment or less in my town on the same house that now costs $800k.

It was close to 1/10th the price of a new car, which might still be true if you can find a $20k new car anymore. Not sure on that one.

It was about 3 months groceries, and might still be if you eat cheap enough.

where we see huge changes is in things like housing, vehicles, computers/cell phones, health insurance. Some of these things we simply didn't have in 1975. But stacked together it makes it almost impossible for a single young man to live like we did in 75. It simply isn't affordable anymore. And in that respect neither wages nor gold kept up.

I think it still has a lot of room to grow.

but I'm mostly comparing it to housing. While gold did a solid 10x+, houses have done a 40-100x. And wages stayed pretty much flat.

this is a problem, and there's a few ways it could get solved, but all of them would seem to point towards both gold and wages rising. I seriously doubt houses are going to drop 90%

Silver is still around and the gold prices would fall as they start circulating in the economy. obviously everyone who has gold, especially the US govenment and the banks, can use it to buy whatever they want, but since gold is sound money, they'll eventually reach an equilibrium where the people have the same worth as the elite. we'd presumably have the same problem we've had since the 1700's only worse. There's not enough gold in the world to do business. Even with silver helping there's not enough of both. Not by a long shot.

so gold shoots up to say, a million dollars an ounce equivalent, but that just means I can go pan a million dollars in 3 weeks. Which makes no sense. But you're right, with enough time an equilibrium would be reached. But with enough time fiat always pops up to fill the gaps.

Mormons tried it in Utah, they ran out of gold in days flat and began circulating paper almost immediately. And they had literal tons of california gold pouring in. People hoard the stuff, it doesn't circulate well.

Your supply and demand dynamics are off for more than that reason: the secondary market, which is people who have gold jewellery, coin, scrap etc... in a 'normal' economy would take advantage of higher prices to sell and add to supply.
The fact that they are not selling, and the fact that we have net buying, especially by foreign central banks and Asian retail, indicates this is not a normal economy. This is the dollar being fucking destroyed.

and of course those aren't really NEW mines.

those are mines that were worked in the 1800's but haven't been feasible to mine since then.
Miners wages doubled in the last 4 years, but gold also went from $1300 to $2200. At that rate, mines that haven't been profitable for over 100 years suddenly become worth mining again. true if you go from the 70s then gold did really bad but that mainly because gold was trash from the 70s until 2000 , but if you look at it last 20 years performance it did pretty decent even better then stock market , now will it continue being this good or become even better or crash and become trash in the next 20 years that a different question based on each one of us speculation about the future

you need to understand that gold as investment is fundamentally just a hedge against inflation or collapse, expecting huge returns from it without a collapse is fundamentally just speculation , if gold continue to perform as it did the last 20 years then it will be extremely good , but if goes like late 70s and 80s and 90s then it would be trash
i would say that if you think that the US economy is a bubble and will continue to be fragile with recessions and high inflation and less and lesser trust from the people or that there is a higher and higher risk of US economical collapse then invest in gold , but if you think that the US economy is headed for a massive boom growth and would find a way to fix all it economical problems and vulnerability's then invest in the stock market

Listen here, you Oompa Loompa. If enough people are interested in buying gold and attempt to do so, the demand curve goes up. If the demand curve goes up, supply goes down. If demand goes up while supply goes down, the price of gold goes up. If the price you bought gold is significantly different from the price at which you sell gold, and the price you sell is more than the price you bought it at, you make what is known as capital gains. It doesn't require the entire world economy to collapse. Additionally, if your country ever enters a recession in which there is a deflation in the value of US dollars, the value of gold will begin to go down while the value of the dollar begins to go up. In such a situation, it is a good idea to exchange your bought gold for dollars, since you want to sell high and buy low in order to make a profit. This is a fundamental principle of economics and trade. Gold is only valuable if
a.) the dollar continues to inflate, decreasing the value of the dollar
b.) the world economy continues to exist as a market
Your gold has exactly no value if inflation doesn't happen or there is a market collapse. What I'm saying is that inflation is a good thing when it comes to buying anything, since the value of it will go up over time like any other stock. The only difference with gold is that it is a physical commodity (a unit of money) as opposed to a stock commodity. If you think that investing in gold is going to save you from stock market collapse, you are talking crazy.

that fundamentally a zero sum game (and you can even argue that is even a negative sum game due to mining if you argue that increase in demand for gold as a jewelry or for industry is low then the increase in it mining), and those would be fundamentally pure speculation
>a economical collapse and deflation decreases the price of gold
no it wouldn't since if the US economy collapse and i mean really collapse people would stop putting their money in the stock market and would either keep it cash , spend it or invest it in things like gold if they fear the government printing or dont trust it any more

That is one hell of a question. It really depends on what sort of cooperation the globe can maintain to keep goods and services flowing. The worse things get the more your PMs will be worth.
The banks have shittons of gold. Silver, being the lever used to suppress price as well as being a very important industrial metal is in extreme shortage relative to gold as well as compared to the pent-up demand tucked away in financial assets. 1BN ounce yearly output * $27 = $27BN market cap. What even is that number in the face of trillion dollar yearly deficits? It gets mined 8:1 yet priced 85:1.
The pent-up price movement on silver could easily be 10x and could potentially be worth thousands of dollars per ounce if the need for safety from financial losses keeps a fever pitch due to inflation/bankruptcies/crippling deflation.

A) disallowing foreign ownership of US land
and
B) removing illegals

would serve to push wages higher and simultaneously reduce housing costs.
i certainly agree that returning to sound money will work to fix things at the policy level, but the labor market is oversaturated with primarily unskilled labor (which sets the price floor) and the housing market is flooded with illegals (who tend to live in clusters), meaning that the single family buying a home to grow has to compete with packs of squatemalans while also competing with them in the job market, or within a job market where their willingness to work slave wages under the table skews the entire market

When is enough enough? Initially I was aiming for 500 silver and 50 gold but I've now shifted to saving exclusively in PMs. I've got maybe 3 months living expenses in FIAT and everything else I have I put into PMs.

I live alone at my mother's house, don't have any assets other than PMs and will probably never own a home unless my mother passes away.

If anyone is confused by this timeline, just know that those who own money actually want to remove cash from the system in order to give themselves far more leverage over the economy using credit. Private entities have wanted to take control over the ability to mint/coin going so far back as the East India Company who used to lobby the crown in order to export domestic silver coinage and sell it for Indian gold. In the U.S. you used to be able to go to the mint with silver and exchange it for U.S. silver coinage free of charge (or a minor siegnorage). This allowed for the people to always have access to coinage. In human history there is often extreme shortages of coinage. Even in the case of the pre-revolution U.S. the people took to mining their own coins much to the dismay of the crown and the international shipping companies.
Restricting your access to money and replacing it with credit is a tale as old as time and will forever be a conflict of interest between the haves and the have-nots. Unfortunatley, the 'haves' need to be taxed to a draconian degree because their unfettered access to capital is squandored in largesse or used to sabotage the masses to keep the addicted, docile, stupid tax cattle. Human capital needs to be unleashed and fostered and cultured and not denigrated and suppressed as if it were an adversary. It's origins stem from the money supply.

Everyone should be wary of junior mining stocks shilled on biz as well as gold/silver pundits. It costs nothing for a CEO to do an interview on a youtube channel to get some exposure for a stock that could do poorly.
In the case of Bayhorse, this place was full of logos and memes and "DD" that had the shareprice run up from like $0.07 up to $.24 or something and then it collapsed and I'm sure plenty of people got burned by the FOMO.
Far better to stick to physical as I am not so sure that any of these stocks will perform like we hope they will because the integrity of the markets and the political risks of nationalization are very very real here. Gold and silver are on the up and up and even then I have my doubts anything good will happen in the mining sector.

Today I will remind them..

There is only 17x more silver than gold on earth.
Gold is currently 85x more expensive than silver.
Most gold is already hoarded, banks never unloaded their gold after the gold standard collapsed.
Most silver is consumed by industry and ends up in toxic landfills because it is not cost-effective to recycle.
The price of silver has not increased relative to inflation.
Industrial silver consumption has been increasing faster than production for decades.
Many believe the price of silver is manipulated.
Most silver is produced in small quantities as a byproduct of mining other, more profitable metals.
Silver is the most electrically conductive element.
For many high-tech applications, it is irreplaceable.
You are still early.
When formerly well-to-do housewives are offering 2-for-1 deals with their questionably aged daughters, then you will know whether you have made it or not.
