Well, see it's not as simple as that. Remember you're buying those puts from professional market makers and they don't sell options at prices they're likely to lose money on. Take pic related. Over the last year GME is down about 50%. However the 15 put expiring in April has been at a loss almost the entire time it has existed. And only now is it at a very small gain which will likely go back red in the next few days. Just buying puts on stocks that everybody knows are going down is not a viable strategy most of the time
