There's also no way to frame this as something not malicious. Google is spyware, but they can frame their services as legit. This is clear wrongdoing with attempts to hide what they're doing.

SOXS is the answer. Face it. Semiconductors are sand in all but the name. The desire for newer, faster, more is unsustainable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networkinging gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, military, and all that other bullshit that people and the government don't have enough money to buy are not needed. No matter how many cores, how fast or efficient, it won't be enough to convince consumers to upgrade from their 10-year-old i5 2500k. The disdain for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender, asshole virginity or other vain conceit; the multitude speaks in singular. The plea: not semiconductors.
SOXS couples a single ETF entry point with the the "best" companies the semiconductor space has to offer then pushes their already horrific returns to your advantage with 3x inverse leverage, all responsibly managed via daily rebalancing to boot. SOXS counteraligns your economic interests with meme stocks like Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, et al. """tech companies""" with unnecessary products, not ad companies making billions a day off boomers' eyeballs. In the last 7 days, SOXL has exploded over 1.1x yet still we are early. Semiconductor contraction will proceed exponentially until every viable space runs on mechanical devices, hydraulics, and pencil and paper. This is a fait accompli; the sheer number of interested parties and obviously compelling outcomes make it so. The rejection of increasingly complex and unreliable sensors, microcontrollers, information processing, and storage out of everything will be this era's seminal revolution, a revolution with SOXS holders planted firmly at the receiving end.
Stop waiting for the "pullback". Where we're going, fretting over a few dollars is meaningless. The deliberation is over; waiting is a failure mode. Now. Buy it now.

People want to deny it, but they're positioning before PCE. If PCE is bad, even slightly bad, Fed Rate forecasts might alter. We have PCE on Friday morning, but the market is closed on Friday.

That means we wait 'til Monday to see the digestion of the information. Is that bearish? Or do traders shake it off by Monday morning? And what if PCE is good! Then we just fucking pump pump pump all year. Inflation is licked. It's tamed, it's turning around and all of that.

A lot more rests on this PCE than Powell or anyone else wants to imagine. Because they think they're predicting it.

I put $100 in the stock market last October. Between then and March 01, it doubled via Bitcoin, and since then I'm wondering how I can keep this momentum. Lately I've just been investing in companies as they make Q4 announcements, which earned me 10% today, but I'm not sure if this is sustainable. What would you do?

Another day. In a reversal the state legislature has decided to bump up my 2024 and 2025 pay hike a bit. Formerly; 2.6% in both years. Now; 3.0% in both years. Which combined will punt my salary finally into the next bracket instead of the damn x7,000 something it is now. Still sucks. If they'd followed the gov's plan I'd be getting a 13% in 2024.

I'm not going to pretend that prices haven't gotten insane, but unless a black swan event happens the affordability of homes will never get better than it is today. Lower rates = cheaper debt = artificially raised prices, so people get locked out. Higher rates = need higher incomes or more cash on-hand to have a larger downpayment = average person gets priced out. Add inflation into the mix and it only gets worse.
Prices aren't going lower. Stop coping and plan accordingly.

im gonna come up with a fair valuation of nvidia compared to their only real competitor, amd.

amd's gaming sector revenue was 6.2b and their data center revenue was 6.5b. their data center revenue includes sales of their cpus so lets cut that in half to 3.25b. amd's total revenue was 22.7b. amd has a market cap of 287b. nvidia had total revenues of 270b. nvidia has 2.49b shares.

6.20b+3.25b = 9.45b in gpu revenue amd
9.45b/22.7b = 42.6% of amds value from gpus
287b*42.6% = 119b value of amds gpus business
27.0b/9.45b = 2.86 ratio between size of nvidia/amd gpu business
119b*2.86 = 340b value nvidia
340b/2.49b = $137/share nvidia stock

I suppose there is some extra value from being a market leader. This is also a revenue based valuation because all of their products have different profit margins which makes them harder to compare. There is also the chance that amd is undervalued. All things considered nvidia is selling at least double of what it should without the cult built around it. as another note nvidia's p/e is 222. they aren't a start up so I don't understand what could justify that price other than popularity. that's not to say nvidia is a bad company.

Yeah, I'm considering this too. I was afraid of a 2100 mortgage payment, and part of me is afraid the market is overvalued and may slow down quite a bit, but I don't want to cash out most of the stocks I've been saving for so long.

Counterpoint: the CHIPS act was entirely grandstanding by all involved and not only is stuffed with caveats that prevent the money from being distributed, but fails to address the fundamental issues behind the whole support infrastructure (not just fabs) leaving this country. Even if these boomers who think that their grandson's NVDA graphics card is all there is to "semiconductors" had any clue about the full scope of what semiconductors can do (they don't), and even if they had any viable plan to bring just the fabs back to the US (they had the beginnings of something with the whole "throw shitloads of money at it" plan, but then diversity quotas happened), they wouldn't address the fact that wafer probe, packaging, test, warehousing/distribution, and the manufacture of supporting PCB's and mechanicals to support all that, is strongly entrenched in Southeast Asia due to labor costs and, at this point, workforce experience, and barring extremely agressive incentives and YEARS of rebuilding the talent base will never return. Writing big checks with no strings attached was literally the bare minimum US Congress had to do to start turning this ship around and they couldn't even manage that. God damn why is everything our government does such as shitshow.
