You have to continue working obviously, but it takes an enormous weight off knowing you have rent or your mortgage payment in the bag even if you lost your job. I have a home loan for 190k @ 3% 1 hour away from any major airport. Anything less than 3 mil is not making it. Beachside property, ski-in, ski-out property, river or lakeside property near a good downtown will cost two or three mil minimum. Four or five mil for decent square footage / modern construction.
