Not only that but the only way to get the data backing that letter was from the SEC. So the SEC sent data to the senators who then wrote a letter to the SEC, using the SEC's own data.

I am a Democrat and can explain:
1) Dems get money from Wall Street and entrenched financial interests that are threatened by crypto. NY Dem Senators are the best example...spout woke shit while protecting Wall Street.

2) Dems have a "holier than thou" herd mentality. Crypto bad, so its a competition to be against it the most (like raycisssm). We're not unlike 5th grade girls.

>it's pure coincidence the average person's quality of life has decline since we abandoned hard money!
Dull little statist slavemind. Money literally flows, monetary expansion causes money to flow almost exactly like electricity, with the "monetary impedance" (how easy an asset converts to money) of an asset determining how fully an asset inflates for a given increase in monetary base. This is the cause of the wage/productivity divergence seen since '71, this is why real estate underperforms equities, this is why nothing can stop bitcoin.

Bitcoin savings get devalued from inflation because cost of living goes up.
Your bitcoin can be worth whatever but when it’s time to buy shit and pay bills you need cash (USD)
So Bitcoin can get its big pump on paper but when the bills come due people will need to sell their Bitcoin to get cash.
This pushes the price down, which we’ve seen before.

However if your bills could be paid in bitcoin, monero, whatever, then there wouldn’t be as much contamination from inflation.
USD can get printed all it wants but if the eggs are priced in monero, and your savings are also in monero, then your finances are unaffected.
If your consumption is tied to a currency you are ultimately beholden to that currency.

They want to raise the bottom of society, in good faith. This is not that tho I'm actually starting to think crypto has a place in the world economy to remove baseless speculation, is better than lotteries, and creates lots of tax revenue.

There's nothing all that interesting in there.
They're urging Gary Gensler to:
1. Make sure the Bitcoin ETPs aren't called "ETF" since that apparently implies more consumer protections. Does it though?
2. Make sure financial advisors don't take advantages of retirees that should be invested into safe and boring shit by going all in into the Bitcoin ETFs instead to grab higher fees.
3. Not start approving Shitcoin ETFs.

Which is nice, but Gary already hates all of this. He only approved the Bitcoin ETFs because he felt forced into it by the courts.
Maybe the SEC will waste a few workers to chase after financial firms and make sure they don't say "ETF" and don't push highly volatile investments to folks that should be chilling.
As far as approving any Shitcoin ETFs, I don't see how it'll happen without either more court cases forcing the SEC's hand, or a very different leadership at the SEC.

No. All ETFs are ETPs
>grab higher fees
BTC ETFs have very low fees

Right but not all ETPs are ETFs, and I suspect that's their points.
Also I wasn't talking about the ETF fees, but about the 0.25% to 2% fees that financial advisors charge on their clients' entire balance every year, which gives them a financial incentive to gamble with their clients money for higher returns.
