All the amazing stories of kids who drop out from Stanford so they can jump into entrepreneurship, and who fail but keep trying because of their grit and their moxie are just about rich kids who can afford to make bad decisions and fuck up over and over because they'll never be homeless.
If you're broke, you get at most ONE chance at "building", and if you fail, you're ruined and you fucked your life durably.
But also yes, I came fresh off the boat into this land of wonders with no money to my name, and through sheer determination, hard work and physics-defying bootstraps pulling, I now sit on 8 digits of made up numbers. Although made up internet money helped a little bit too.
