Kek, join the club. TD froze me out of trading RSX at $5.61 and then just removed all the value all together. I somehow still get $150 in RSX dividends paid a year, so just 28 more years until that virtual black hole gets paved over. Really exciting day today in the steel market.

HRC touched 784 this morning, then bounced back to 798. I think this mainly was due to downward pressure on the DXY, but we should be entering the bottom phase here if my charts hold up. Now while steel hasn't hit the support line in terms of dollars, it HAS hit support in terms of HRC/gold! I imagine in the dollar moves into a downward phase steel might get a tailwind.

I may do it. I may jump to working strictly in a metallurgical coal mine just for the sense of future job security.
So many coal-fired plants are scheduled to shut down in the next few years that many coal miners working today will be out of a job soon if these shutdowns come about.
I'm sick of working in a dying industry and hearing about layoffs. So for this reason, and for a person one related to family, there is a certain met coal mine I might apply to and have a serious shot at getting hired at.

A big part of this consideration, I must admit, is not just my declining morale when it comes to the future of thermal coal in America -- which is definitely part of it. I just can't get answers as to why the coal industry isn't doing more to establish export relations with Asia and elsewhere.

The other big part of this decision is one of my nearest and dearest has cancer. She was, just today, taken off chemo and all treatments that attempt to cure it. Now she's down to palliative care. She's basically considered terminal and how much time she has is anyone's guess.

She loves me and wants me around more often. As it is, I do maintenance mining, traveling to different mines on projects.
With this met coal opportunity, I would work a regular shift at one mine, in one location, and be home everyday.
This would be the world to her. I love her deeply -- it's my mother, and who I am is owed so much to her -- and want her to be as happy and comforted as possible in whatever time she has left.

So I am strongly considering this career shift. This met coal mine I would work for exports to many countries, but largely to Japan for making some of the world's highest quality steel. That's something I could be really proud of, since I love taking pride in my work -- I need it, in fact, for my own sanity. Back before I got into mining I did warehousing and hated every day of it. LOL
Respect your industry, finding it valuable, and knowing it makes a difference can be so important to one's moral and mental wellbeing.
So this possible career shift is very much in play.
Just an FYI for anyone interested.

It's a nice climb, but be careful for getting too high on the hopium.
This is a little jump from submitting the EA and catching some attention, but there's really zero reason for Salt to go anywhere in the near future aside from a spontaneous buyout.
Nothing has changed with it yet and EA being submitted or even passing means nothing.
I bet there's a bunch of pumpers making use of this to cause a bit of a fomo on the hopes of the price turning, and then they'll end up screwing whoever gets in at the top of the pump.
Tale as old as time with the juniors.
I have a lot of faith in Salt making it, but time frame wise this is way too early for it to do anything for any reason other than a looming buyout.

Not an expert and I'm mostly watching the dollar in terms of the euro, yuan, rupee, and pound because of the steel and scrap markets (weaker dollar tends to raise steel prices). The DXY hit its upper support and now seems to be retracing to lower (around 101.50 if it makes it there). Today the MXN, INR, EUR, and GBP all gained on the dollar. Only the Yuan dropped a bit, off their news of their stimulus bonds. Looking at the CAD chart, it looks like it is losing to the dollar a bit, short term. See attached meme lines, maybe retracing to 0.72?

I think/hope that the dollar will weaken a bit short term because people still think the Fed is going to cut rates despite the data being rather sticky.

Now that the market has more or less found a bottom, I think it's time for me to buy African producers. I've started looking at them again and goodness some of them are trading at like 2-3x EBITDA while having strong balance sheets, big resources and reserves, and growth on top of all that. Of course I have my Endeavour shares but I recently also bought back into Orezone and I'm now beginning to think Perseus and West African Resources simply have to be in my portfolio as well.

Africa will at some point in this century be the world's growth engine, much as China and other parts of Asia are that engine today.
Later this century, Africans will comprise 40+ percent of the world population. The fastest growing economies are largely in Africa, though they are starting from the bottom and it'll take another generation before countries like Nigeria, Ethiopia, and DRC are truly significant economic players. Africa will have a young population for quite some time as they go through their Demographic Transition that modernity/industrialization brings.

Africa is also a trove of resources. I'm not sure if they're the greatest buy nowadays, but in the future, definitely, there will be a lot of investment in Africa.

And I am not too worried about the IQ issue with Africans. Many have much better morals than our degenerated African-American population in the U.S. And industrialization doesn't require a really high IQ if you're talking about extracting raw resources and farming. Sure, space exploration does, but becoming a major exporter doesn't.

I lived in Ethiopia for a bit 20 years ago. Even then they had pharmaceutical and cement factories and managed them decently. I just wish the US would export thermal coal to Africa to give us more of a market for our product. Coal is the best fuel for early industrialization due to its simplicity of use, storage, shipping etc.

great point and honestly I think they're plenty smart enough to know that supporting mining companies is a net benefit. Aside from the terrorist factions, rogue warlords and dictators Africans are a heartful bunch and as you say not as morally degenerated as Afro-Americans. They're also not so prideful and retarded to nationalize and shut down or protest mines and shoot themselves in the foot nearly as frequently as South Americans. Africans are clawing their way out of poverty like SEA has been doing for the past few decades, they know cooperation is key. I love investing in African mining

>> No.57882494

>>57882362
>I love investing in African mining
Africa can have quite a bright future if it plays its cards right. They have a wealth of natural resources and could also manufacture many items for export. Labor is quite inexpensive, but the thing it, a miner in Africa working for a Western company can afford a modern house, land, and have lifetime security for himself and his family.
And absolutely, Africans won't be protesting mining projects coming to their area. They'd welcome the wealth that those jobs bring. I just can't see why South Americans are so retarded in this way -- it must be mind poisoning by noxious NGOs and their history of socialism which has led to an acceptance of some rabid forms of environmentalism.

I've lived in Africa. They naturally understand market economies, like in the big merchant bazaars. They're not naturally socialistic people, even though they are communal and even the urbanites still have recent rural roots and ties. People not far from the farm tend to make good, honest workers. Africa has plenty of them.

>> No.57882555

>>57882494
Africans are also young. Their population structure is great for growing economies. Lots of strong hands and legs and a desire to improve.

There is one South American gold miner I'm also thinking of buying though, it's called Aris. Similarly to the African miners I mentioned previously they're also making good money, they have a strong balance sheet, they have big resources and reserves, and they have growth coming along. Although of course because they're in South America they're apparently facing some opposition for their development projects. Fucking football commies

>> No.57882975

>>57882555
The population structure of Africa is great for investment and should remain that way for another half century or so. I have read, though, that new industrializers are going through the Demographic Transition faster than, say, Europe and the USA did when we industrialized. So even by the end of this century Africa is expected to have the same sorts of problems that early developers have now: not enough young people and lots of older people.
This is one of the reasons there is so much investment in robotics and automation. The "masters of the universe" know that the population pyramid will invert, the world over, in this century.

Selling all of your gold? I would at least keep a portion of your savings in gold. My portfolio is like 15% physical gold, as a simple low risk asset in case of a rainy day.

Anyways I would recommend putting a part of your portfolio in producers thta are already profitable and cash flowing and that have a good history of not being shit. Like Agnico Eagle, B2Gold, Endeavour Mining or Kinross (though Kinross has some poor acquisitions behind them). These companies also tend to pay divvies and do buybacks, they're a good foundation for a precious metals portfolio. Royalty companies work too but they're expensive and probably better if we're in a bear cycle. As for silver there are a few producers like Silvercrest, MAG, PAAS and First Majestic which you should consider as part of your silver holdings. Silver can make big moves and even the lower risk producers can make big moves. Then there's the juniors, lots of them to choose from and many are speculative but the sector is so badly beaten down that the downside risk seems pretty low.

Staying 15% physical gold, one ounce coins, is excellent timeless advice. That is diamond-hands, never selling, wealth building strategy. Right now you want to be 50-70% in treasuries (t-bills, notes) because the market will correct and you want liquidity to buy inexpensive stocks. I've been frustrated by gold mining and oil stock performance over tge last three years, everyone is. Gold will stay up and the miners won't move until the Fed announces the first rate cut. The miners will drop with everything else in a market sell-off but will recover much sooner and start to blast off. Expect a possible 20-30% drop in price from here during that sell-off. So for now build cash but buy miners at a rate of 5% of your investments. Hard to stay disciplined, and I've been extremely overweight miners for years, but also keep an eye out for shipping stock and energy to buy when the market drops. Get a watchlist now, build cash and fucking stay disciplined, your multi-generational buying opportunity is only a few months to a year away so you need to build liquidity. Pay attention, the billionaires are selling since last month. Retail is buying, institutions are selling. It is hard to stay disciplined when these equities are so fucking cheap right now, so for all intents and purposes I'm all in and on basically adding from every pay check I get. I know I'm probably not timing the exact bottom but we're getting close enough. Gold making new highs is what made me do this, now the question of sentiment and trend change in the miners is only a matter of time.

That article is owning itself. I can't remember the exact figures, but as the article recognizes, gold is a hedge against an economic 'shtf scenario'. If gold 'goes up' that means society is ''going down'.

Consequently it's typically advised that a healthy portfolio consist of at least 2% holdings in gold. Most agree this is correct. If we look at the current portfolio allocations of the world, however, we will see that the average allocation of gold per portfolio is well under 1%. Point being, gold is undervalued, as the people of the world don't own as much of it as they need to in order to 'protect' themselves—and the world is quite literally in deep 'trouble' on multiple fronts.

There's a global ponzi bubble going on with tech and miner sentiment has been absolute dogshit for few years now.
The last thing some big pension fund is going to do, is to drop billions into miners when these guys want to make profit in the short term.
It's entirely possible the miners continue to eat shit even with gold going up, which is exactly what has been happening with that sector for a good while now.
The recent track record is simply so horrible that no one wants to be the first big player to get into the miner game.

For me, price has to cross and close above/below the red/blue line and also have the orange line be on the same side (but doesn't necessarily have to move past it, but it shows strength in that direction). I probably wouldn't have been in this to begin with (long or short). There are better, more liquid things for me to trade. In the course of a year, it would've had two small wins, one small loss, and a 12.5% win on the account. Because it was a volatile ticker, you scale back your exposure, which means on a $10k account you'd only be exposed to $1.3k (to accept a 2% risk at worst)
The actual win would've been even less because you'd sell half and scale out one you hit TP levels, which woudl've been halfway to the big candle

Marshall County Coal Mine and Ohio County Coal Mine, both in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, are scaling back their workforces and laying off. These are "Murray Mines" -- today called ACNR.
Thermal coal is doomed. That's why I'm attempting this transfer into met coal.

>> No.57901417

I mentioned the other day that the leaders of the coal industry let 50% of their American business vaporize while doing nothing effective against the trend and the reaction was awkward, like I shouldn't be criticizing higher leadership.
Yes, I know individual companies have to cope individually, and there are industry advocates, but I asked point blank why there hasn't been an effort to sell more coal to Asia -- or even to sell the concept, to the public and the government, of America selling coal to Asia. No one had an answer.
I think thermal coal is basically doomed in the United States. If you look at the roster of coming power plant shutdowns, most coal plants I've seen will be done within a decade, many within 3-5 years.
I heard one guy say that exports are going to be big when things get bad enough. That's wishful thinking as far as I'm concerned. How bad do things have to get, when the industry has declined 50% in 15 years? It's already a disaster.
Others put their faith in Trump. But Trump didn't lift a finger to help out the coal industry during his term; the gas-conversion of the electric grid continued full blast under him. Why assume it'll be different this time? Does a president even have much power to influence which fuel source a nation prefers or decides to export?
I have to admit, my morale is in the toilet. I cashed out my stocks recently and loaded up on gold, silver, and some platinum. I also have cash. I'm thinking of hanging it up for a while, going into at least temporary retirement, and just watching from the sidelines.
There is obviously no coordinated plan to try to save American thermal coal because there is no basis for coordinating such a plan, which would require cooperation across the industry's big players, the government, and probably also the media.

I don't know.

The writing has been on the wall for so long. Natgas is just so abundant in NA, and it's so much cheaper to build natgas fired plants. They even have much smaller surface footprint. The only downside is that it's a just-in-time fuel that can't be stored. Coal should at least be a part of the energy mix but looking at the thermal coal industry as a whole it seems the only way to save some of it would be to export more, to Asia and Africa. Met coal at least still has a bright future for what it's worth. Smart move getting into precious metals, I'd also get some of the miners.

Look into fasting and the autophagy that occurs. Not to get hopes up, but there have been a number of cases now that doctors have declared terminal who did regular multi-day fasts (safely of course) and then went into remission. Yes fasting is difficult but dying is worse. The human body has not just evolved to deal with long periods of not eating, but actively depend upon it. We need breaks in digestion to prioritze cell repair over cell reproduction and cancer is cell reproduction gone awry.

So maybe 25% coal-fired, 50% gas, and 25% nuclear.
I wouldn't even mind getting rid of some of the big electricity-producing dams for environmental reasons. Use gas, coal, and nuclear in their stead.
The only good reason for a dam nowadays is to control water supply, not to make electricity, which has so many other potential sources.

>Will suggest the fasting
DYODD on it first ofc just so that you know enough to have a bit more of a convincing pitch, if you don't already. I obviously don't know your mother but I generally find suggestions with a bit of knowledge of mechanism better compels people, especially for difficult practices. People will rarely try something like a three-day fast of only water and electrolytes without inspiration or reassurance of how to do it safely, even when it's life and death.

What's wrong with hydro? There's methane too. It isn't a huge source of power, but it's greater than 1%.

He's talking about a potential trap, where gold is allowed to reach new highs, people pile in, then the rug is pulled, to teach would be future gold investors a lesson and keep the greenback strong.
I have no idea if this is the case, but it's not outside the realm of possibility in our sleazy financial system.
I will sit on my precious metals regardless.

that kind of "trap" is pure fantasy as is the whole cucked demoralized manipulation narrative. New ATHs are bullish.

The only cases where I'd be against hydro would be where it disrupts fish populations in some big way. Most hydro is probably fine.
I just think we have better sources of energy than hydro, ones less disruptive of the environment.
But that only applies in certain cases. Many dams are pretty harmless.

>So what's the catch
The catch is that people are demoralized, shaken, conditioned after years of crabbing and dumping to expect it to continue forever. Flinching like battered wives, many are expecting another dump so they are out of their positions, or even shorting the pump.

They will all be left behind. 2400 Gold soon.

Absolutely. I only frequent here and papa Gary's sub so I have to remind myself that sentiment outside of these places is still incredibly bearish in the face of ATHs, but even still we have such bearishness here despite /cmmg/ being one of the most consistently commodity-bullish places there is, relatively at least. Normies still have no idea.

It's momentum and options trading. I don't know who is buying the froth now but I went to the doctors office the other day and the guy wouldn't stop talking about stocks, so, I think there is just a lot of hysteria. Also a lot of these 1000000 P/E stocks are in the indexes, and people are piling into those.

Yeah, passive investing was a mistake, not going to end well for the "passive investors" imo.

idk what correction you're expecting when the gold price keeps going up like this. Its just not going to correct, exactly because everybody expects it will.

I'm not saying I expect a correction. I was just alluding to 2019 when gold was breaking out (although not all time highs) but silver didn't and that was followed by a correction.
