use common sense. do you think AI replacing 50% of the workforce is going to be good for investors?

Yes, people are the biggest expense in any company, if 50% of people were laid off profit margins would skyrocker

yes, in the short term it will be extremely good. then, the entire economy is fucked

Yes, imagine not having to pay high $ salaries for your "smart" employees who don't even work 24/7.

imagine the average consumer not having a job and not being able to afford your AI products.

short term: tech companies with insanely overpriced employees (300k+ TC) get replaced. a minority go unemployed while a majority (literally everyone else in the economy) still consume what tech companies are now creating using AI agents instead of humans.

long term: everyone else starts going unemployed, so now there's no income to fuel spending. economy is fucked

That's a very simplified example. Note: I say tech companies, but those are just the low hanging fruit and realistically all white collar jobs can be replaced. Blue collar will take way longer (afaik)

it always takes longer than expected for big players to actually adopt new technologies. realistically a huge amount of jobs today could be automated, but itll take years to come to fruition. I don't have an accurate estimate or way to calculate this timeframe, but when I do I'll be betting my entire net worth on it because there is almost a 0% chance that AI doesn't eventually replace most the workforce

>>57858845
Yup, that's exactly why we're going to live trough a major shift in society. I don't have to think about a retirement anymore, AI is going to drive everyone out of their jobs. Which in turn generates an unprecedented supply of everything imaginable.
Until then long AI and purchase land to your name with the gains.

In a post-scarcity world, assuming a smooth transition from widespread unemployment -> UBI program, capitalism would still function but be less important to the average person. Rich people and businesses still would own all the hardware that all the agents run on (a much smaller %), but poor people would be lifted to a new standard and consistency of living never before seen.

Poor people could still create businesses technically, but assuming there are autonomous agents running their own businesses and trying to constantly find niches to take advantage of (for the benefit of either "themselves" or whoever owns them, aka the hardware companies or limited amount of software companies remaining), there would be so much market saturation. I suspect people would even start to get overwhelmed by it and want to retreat back into more traditional/natural lifestyles. Mix this in with more scifi technologies e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJg02ivYzSs and things like anti-aging breakthroughs, and you get a really really strange world.

Money probably won't even be as much of a status symbol as it is right now. Fame and social status seems like it would gain popularity in a situation like this. Pro chess players, sports players, anything that is uniquely human. If everyone is rich no one is rich in terms of UBI, but these high status individuals would still be able to get more than the average person in terms of e.g. exclusive events, wider mating selection, etc.

That's super long term thinking though, in the short term most likely there will not be a smooth transition from unemployed -> UBI. There's a relatively high chance of civil war or world war between rich and poor citizens or nations. In this case, investments depend more on the situation at hand. A war brewing? All in on war stocks. USD spiraling out of control? All in BTC and other assets that will spiral with it at least temporarily.
