It's not in me to be nasty toward a subordinate, rather just rational about business and meeting specified goals in a timely, incident free, and cost effective manner.

Exactly. It's not personal. Just a statement of "We need to meet X goal by Y deadline, and here's what I want you to do to accomplish that."
I usually follow that up with, "Is there anything you need to help you accomplish the task?" since it's my job to make sure they have everything they need to do the work safely and quickly.

As a contractor I have an even easier motivator. I get bonuses for getting work done ahead of schedule and under budget. I share those bonuses with my crew. They get paid more if they work quickly and safely. Probably not an option in most companies though.

Another reason I don't trust the c-suite suits even though I'm supposed to defer to their expertise is this, and this is a BIG one:

In 2008, US coal production reached its peak at around 1.2 billion tons per year. Now, we produce just under 600 million tons per year. That's a 50% decline in 15 years.
Half of the coal mining workforce from 15 years ago is gone.

What did the executives do about it? JACK SHIT!
They didn't make the needed deals with Asia to sell our coal there. They just let the industry shrink by 50% and did absolutely nothing.

This has to change.

When I think of it this way, it just leaves me steaming. Our leadership, our executives, sat there doing layoff after layoffs as the industry shrank with, effectively, their thumbs up their asses, collective nice salaries and bonuses while being complacent about relentlessly declining coal sales.

Most of these companies don't exist anymore. Best way to see how crazy things were was the oil and gas sector because most of these companies exist: CRK, PBR, CTRA all the midcap oil and gas companies, and you can look at some of the mid cap miners/explorers that were around at the time like LUG, PAAS, SEA etc... Coal companies like SSL and the ones listed on the HKEX. Most of these stocks went x10 some ever x30 x50. Same thing happened back in the 70s if you listen to some of the old guys that were in the space back then, you didn't even need to hit a drill hole rock samples were enough to take a stock hundreds of percent to the upside.

I don't even care if I see no benefit from coal mining companies establishing ties with Asia for exporting our steam coal over there. I just want to see this happen. It boggles my mind how the U.S. coal industry has been allowed to collapse by 50%, despite very strong international demand for coal, when we are sitting on the world's largest reserves including some of the world's best coals.
I don't get it, and I worry about the future of coal miners and coal companies here.

As to that pic of my rainbow anthracite lump, it really is good stuff to burn anthracite for home heating or even for cooking. It burns almost without smoke.
Anthracite occurs almost exclusively in Pennsylvania in the US and was once heavily used in people's homes for exactly those purposes. It's much better than bituminous coal for cooking and home heating because it doesn't give off so much smoke.

I’ve brought this up a few times already but again, the PBOC already injected a bunch of stimulus back in September in hopes of boosting the domestic housing/ commercial situation.. Well, Shanghai Steel futures shot up to multi-year highs, but then then fizzled out in less than a month back in November. Despite all of the stimulus, key Chinese raw material gauges are richer back to where they were, including copper too.

Back in November we also had record amounts of quarterly FDI (foreign direct investment) outflows from China, and the worst manufacturing PMI numbers since 2008. Not looking good, and their languishing performance is a canary for the rest of our globally-synchronized economy..

Market Huddle welcomed Silvercrest Metals president Chris Ritchie to talk about the metals space, how his company is reducing balance sheet risk by actually holding their own metals and the advantages of royalties vs. Miners:

AEM is actually profitable and provides good return on equity, while also paying respectable shareholder returns and growing organically. Literally the shining star of this sector. Kinross is another good one but they're experts at making awful m&a deals (see Great Bear). B2Gold also makes money but they have fucked up the Back River development on the capex side and they're in Mali which scares pussies. For the real gigachads there's Endeavour Mining who are all-in West Africa and who make lots of money and return lots of capital to shareholders. I've also been starting to look at Dundee Precious Metals and my initial impressions are that they're one of the best majors out there

It's absolutely incredible you people are sitting here investing in gold/silver/mineral mining stocks instead of buying the real thing.

You're going to make nothing as those mines will be nationalised and you get told to fuck off when shtf.
At the same time, I'm going to make a 50x in 2 years and I'll put all my real money into land, property and real assets unlike your fake digits on screen.

Why buy something that's hard to transfer value (unlike crypto), nearly impossible to pay with (unlike regular cash and crypto) and you don't even get dividends from it like stocks. Might as well invest in Evelyn's magic voodoo crystals. You guys are the biggest dumbasses on this board and you will NEVER make it.

We split off from you as to not shit up your threads with the horse and other miners.. and now this?

You can be assured virtually everyone in Cmmg owns physical, it’s just we want the optionality of being able to move out of the asset at a moments notice, and also use the equities as a multiplier of the gains brought on by higher spot prices. Speaking of which, how the hell are you making 50x in two years without miners? That would assume a $1200 usd spot, in which case miners would do at least a 1000x in such a improbable scenario.

Good luck with that, the crypto fucks are having the doors closed on them now with exchanges demanding a blood sacrifice to be able to do anything with their own crypto, The likes of Mexico and Chile and other big Gold/Silver mining districts for the last few years have been preparing new laws to full take over their own minerals and will tell the likes of Newmont to get lost after the banking system shits the bed and they are no longer under 3 letter agency threat.

All this shit has been planned and engineered the last 100 years and theres a reason why they call it "The Great Wealth Transfer" and "You'll Own Nothing and be Happy"

One day it'll move, but this could easily be a 5 year time frame thing instead of anything under 2.
They're in the middle of getting the environmental assessment through at the moment, but I bet it doesn't really mean anything aside from a momentary little bump.
Realistically the only thing that's going to move the price is any talks about funding the construction and who knows how long that'll take.
I expect this to either go sideways at best or slowly trickle down until something real materializes.
I'll sit on the sidelines and ride the other commodity plays and get back into this once it starts looking like they're moving towards finding funding.
It's a fundamentally great project, too bad the original sale didn't materialize. I blame the management bungling things up, and the FS was done only around when interest rates were shooting up and no one is going to buy shit during that.

I've been watching nat gas closely. It's on my daily spreadsheet. We still have too much supply in America, but, eventually producers slow their roll and prices seem to bounce fast

Yes it's an overusupplied market but it swings hard whenever there is any grid-related issue, and seasonally it's favorable going out of Winter season
