I put zero effort into my job. I simply can’t convince myself to try. I do the bare minimum and go home. It’s an actual nightmare to be a wage slave.

You will be fired.

Are you familiar with the peter principle? It states that, if you perform well in your job, you will likely be promoted to the next level of your organization's hierarchy. You will continue to rise up the ladder until you reach the point where you can no longer perform excelent and just do the bare minimum to not get fired. So, in a sense, you're doing exactly what the company needs you to do, no more, no less.
That's why most of us want to get away from the wageslave, its not suitable for free men. Cling to your crypto my dude, grab on to your ETH, BTC, LINK MATIC AGRS or whatever it is you hold and decide to make it. True freedom comes when you're freed from the money chains that binds us all.

Maybe. And yet often enough, you don't.

What anti-labor media calls "quiet quitting" is really just abandoning the fiction that working really hard is good for you.

What do you do? I can't stand sitting there doing nothing. When I get caught up, I ask my coworkers/boss if they have anything else I can help with just because that's better than doing nothing.

Construction. There are guys who will work themselves to the bone to show off and please the boss. They prefer I don’t get in their way.

Oh shit I read this essay series. Actually was linked to it from biz. Something good from this site for once

I used to do the same. The one time I actually made a serious effort nobody gave a shit. They didn't even notice when I starting shirking work completely. Quit because I felt like I was stealing and also cuz I didn't want to live a lie anymore.

I had a friend put in lots of work and he was overperforming his team members and he got talke dto by management often and they kind of implied they were going to fire him
he got sick of it and started putting 2-3 hours max of work in everyday, since he stopped trying he's gotten a promotion
nothing makes sense anymore

You’re wrong. I’ve been coasting by on the minimum for years. As long as your work is done on time, and to a good enough standard, no one can really complain. I just don’t do extra.
