Because you could find that pattern anywhere. You can make any pattern appear by adjusting the time span. And that doesnt even account for all the other factors that affects price. And its different for every company. Maybe the only time it "works" is with highly diverse ETFs because then it basically just averages the behavior of every stock in the portfolio, but that also means it doesnt predict any particular move.

Aside on to something a bit morbid; don't neglect to have a will, trust setup, or both to deal with your assets if you die. If you don't have such a plan then your estate lands in the hands of the court system to deal with. Which leads to fees and headache and the only ones who'll win is the lawyers involved. So you know fuck that. Also things can happen to your assets that you many not have wanted done. Ex: you wanted to shaft Bobby out of inheriting your collection of firearms cause he turned into a wimp noodle who pisses his pants over anything to do with guns but due to you not planning ahead guess what?. Court decides to give him your firearms.

You should look up what an ETF is.
Its literally just a group of people bought a whole bunch of stocks and then listed that group of stocks as its own ticker. You can go look up how many shares of each company comprise an ETF, and theoretically you can trade in your ETF shares for actual shares of the underlying stock but this basically never happens.
SPY is just a portfolio that contains a weighted average of shares in S&P 500 companies.

I know how ETFs "work". It's just that when you buy a 2000 lot of SPY 0dte options goofy things happen. But I guess it's just simply the individual stocks and nothing else moving the market right? If that were truly the case, I should keep yoloing large sized options trades because there is no correlation with the price of the underlying right? there's a few things here. you are not managing billions of dollars and hedging. they generally have to generate activity in ways that make the clients money safe against like -50% downswings because the clients invest millions of dollars and if their shit lost half the value it looks bad on the fund manager. also, people panic and pull out their investment. look at certain funds that over 20 years the clients would have generated 12% annual but most clients actually withdrew their money for a loss. why they panicked at market movement and volatility and the fund manager lost future fees on their money. so a lot of funds are meant to protect their clients from downswings and volatility. this means a lot of diversification.

there's probably other things but as a sole investor managing your own portfolio you can make concentrated bets and outperform the market if you do well. it's actually not that uncommon to do so. the argument that hedge funds managing billions in assets that have to invest in certain ways didn't beat the market so you can't is just not true.

I was dumb and bought TSLA this week. I'm not even American so I got fucked on exchange fees. My thinking was I had some money to burn and wanted to replace a tech growth company on my portfolio.

Is there a good argument to hold? It seems extremely overvalued with a price held up by zealots rather than any exciting R&D result on the horizon. The alternative would be to sell it, eat shit on fees and how much it declined yesterday and then reinvest in a weapons ETF where my only risk is an outbreak of peace.

Other than the issue of this being
THA TOP,
XLK seems to have been the single "best way to go" overall within a reasonable risk/reward balance. There are other things that would have turned out to be better, like USD, or even AXON NIGGER SHOCKERS, but XLK was a much safer "sure thing". Once it gets good and corrected it will likely continue to be superior to the S&P and even stuff like VUG.

I have most of my capital parked in SNSXX which is a money market fund of US Treasuries. I did have it in SWVXX which has a higher yield but has some corporate debt in it so might lose value if the commercial real estate crisis hits. As for STOOKS, I'm thinking stock picking is going to be safer than VOO for a while because VOO is propped up by overvalued speculation and hedge funds with guns to their heads forcing them into the same handful of companies. I just put a little over 6k into mostly carefully selected companies that should be fine regardless of the coming TECH TROON APOCALYPSE. They are already desperately laying off in order to prop up their earnings reports each quarter. I will buy them at the bottom which might take them about a year to get to from when it starts.

>99% of people had never heard of NVDA
Anyone under the age of 65 (that's probably the cutoff) who's ever made a personal computer before, whether for gaming or for video editing or just nerdery, knows who Nvidia is. They have been the most popular brand in personal computers behind Intel for the past 30 years. I don't expect non nerds to know this, but a LOT of guys who have PCs (and not laptops) under 65 know this name.

It's just that no one thought they could grow this big. NVDA was already a mega-cap stock in 2022. I remember thinking about buying it sometimes. I always decided against it because I thought I missed it. Because I did miss it.

But now they're on their second leg. This stock is gonna be hard to knock.
