Thank God I make 120k + 20k benefits as a remote dev in the US. Essentially only because covid pushed my company remote. I feel like some Eastern European would happily do my job for 20k. I doubt I'll ever get a higher paying position with the same level of comfort. One downside of FANG jobs is that they often expect you to be onsite which would cut my quality of life by like 75%.

I don't see web development surviving in its current form for more than 5-10 years. We're very close to the point where a graphic designer can pass a wireframe to an AI and have it spit out full React code, at least for static sites. It’s a wierd phenomena but the lower paying the job the harder it is mentally and sometimes physically . Usually the tasks are easier but there is always a lot of bullshit you have to deal with that makes it not worth it. Then you get into high 6 figure jobs that are often cozy.
