It's more than that. Some whales are occasionally making large purchases to trip up bots and cause even more purchases. Sometimes they are subtle and split purchases across many wallets, yesterday someone just said "fuck it" and dropped 25k in one go.
Some baggies notice and make /biz/ threads which leads schmucks from here to spend more money on the fake pump. Maybe the whale himself makes a thread because why not.
Then after a while the whale sells roughly the same amount for 10-20% profit and kills the pump.
