There's this founder that created a mintable shitcoin. He provided to the public a mechanism to mass mint the shitcoin. The final step in this mechanism is very suspicious - it calls SELF-DESTRUCT on the minting addresses. Will post an example below.
You can view other examples with the advanced filter on etherscan by filtering by the method 0 x f 5 8 7 8 b 9 b (Bulk Mint Claim Reward).
The reason it's suspicious is that destroying those addresses makes it MORE costly to re-mint the token. You could save on gas by re-using them instead of destroying them.
So my question is, how can I find out whether someone is minting this token with a similar contract that has been kept secret from the public that does the same thing but without calling self-destruct? (saving gas for them and allowing them to mint more of the token and become whales more easily). Or is the self-destruct function actually necessary somehow, and why?
Yeah i know not your personal army...I'll just take that response as "I'm too retarded to help." Stick around and you might learn something.

You need to filter by 0xf5878b9b (Bulk Mint Claim Reward) to see the self destruct calls

people who know solidity well enough to tell me why or if the self-destruct calls are needed. if they are then the founder is being truthful. If they aren't needed, then there's a good chance someone (likely the founder/team) is minting more tokens with the same amount of eth than everyone else, giving themselves a disproportionate advantage.
Well thanks for the bump anyways. I just want to know if the founder is gatekeeping minting power with this self destruct thing.

Okay this says self destruct saves "far more" gas than a regular send:
https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/315/why-are-selfdestructs-used-in-contract-programming
But why then does this other minting mechanism not use self destruct? Wouldn't it benefit from doing so?

Pic related for entertainment. God ethereum is pozzed as fuck.
