I've kept my 401k in the S&P500 the past 10 years have have done very well. Gonna keep it going into there

>> No.57561384

The S&P 500 averages a 7% growth rate over long periods which beats other investments like treasuries and corporate bonds. I don't know why everyone doesn't just keep their money in the S&P 500.

Probably because most retards live paycheck to paycheck and rent; those that have an extra $300 at the end of the month can't forsee it going to anything useful like a house, so they gamble it.

And that's the inflation-adjusted return. The average annual gross return is more like 10% (over the past 30 years).

>> No.57561449

>>57561428
What's even better is the S&P 500 is considered too big to fail since so many Americans have their retirement invested in it. If it goes down too much the fed starts cutting interest rates and the congress starts spending money to make the index go back up again. For that reason I think the S&P 500 is just as safe as money markets and bonds over long periods and yields a lot more.

I do. At least 48% of my money. Easy peasy ETF with low running costs.

I have a fond for each of the kids where I deposit 150$ a month for them.
Should be a decent sum for a down payment when they turn 25.

I might be able to retire at 45 or switch to working 2,5 days of the week a lot earlier.

Might sound boring but I am always puzzled why nobody else does this

You're going to have a nice wake up call this year.
It'll be your first warning sign that safe long term investments aren't a thing when you're no longer number one on the global Scales.

None knows how low it's going but enjoy your shitcoin rug style dump at the end of this bull run.

They have enough fertility and immigration to keep their motor running.
Whatever political shenanigans they're doing, they can't fuck up enough within my lifetime.

I decided against buying stocks from my country. My reasoning is that I'm already exposed to enough risk in this country via my job, home and rental property.
My allocation per month is 1k home mortgage, and 2100 towards the ETF.
Combined household income is 4600€ ATM. The rental flat is paid off.
Also I decided against buying Chinese stock, as their risk/return ratio is ungodly

Mainly because 7% of not very much, is not very much.
The vast majority of people don't have enough money to have enough skin in the game for 7% to make anything more than pocket change difference at the end of the year.

You really can't tell the foundations are cracking up uh? You really need to see the Ponzi crumble to understand it.

To both of you, the problem is global and being hedged into treasuries assures you're rugged the hardest, getting into equities before any semblance of power structure is reformed, assures you're rugged.
The problem is systemic and global.
Hedge with gold, silver, bitcoin and farmstead.
Don't believe me? Listen to someone with more experience and knowledge.
https://youtu.be/dk3AVceraTI?si=iQAJvq2wFedtBKlo

The entire system is illiquid, broke, over leveraged, and it's bound to further centralise until it breaks apart or it's reformed.
If any country in the world took over the seat of power, the problem wouldn't go away, it's an existential threat brought forth by the power of fractional reserve banking and usury as its cardinal sin.
Until these two don't go away, humanity will be threatened as a whole.
Billions will die.

If you put 5200 dollars in a tax advantaged account that is $1000 per year. After 5 years that is $26,000. After accounting for a 7% increase that will naturally grow to approximately $32,000.

This doesn't account for dividend reinvestment.

The advantage of a 401k is that your employer is matching your contributions which is free money essentially.

I'm 100% in VTI and VTSAX. I have too much to lose to risk putting in crypto. Most of the time you cannot beat the market, though some do. Not a risk I'm willing to take.

Smart thing to do is invest in crypto during the bear, cash out during the bull, then put those gains into SPY/VOO. Very simple and easy path to early retirement.
