Long bear market caused production to completely die (except for Cameco in Canada and Kazatomprom in Kazakhstan). Utilities just coasted off reactors shutting down post-Fukushima, which dumped extra shiny rocks on the market.

We're now reaching crunch time where new production is still years from ramping up but spare/uncontracted pounds are nowhere to be seen. So if you're a utility restarting a reactor or running down your own inventories, well...

Does make you wonder what a stock's value really is. In the near term, it's obviously what people are willing to pay for it, but we all know that most people do zero research before they buy stocks. Maybe we're going to have another 1929 style crash, or maybe this time will be different. The economy seems to be chugging along just fine, unemployment is low, and inflation is going down. Maybe these meme AI companies will actually deliver huge productivity increases across the board, justifying the hype, or maybe AI is just a fad, and the stock market will come crashing down the moment enough people realize it.

AI doesn’t have intern levels of comprehension. It doesn’t even have a child’s level of comprehension. LLMs are just really good at SOMEHOW doing things without actually having any insight. It’s not intuitive to us because we never had that type of entity before. Comprehension was always directly correlated with work output. HUBG is one. one thing i have found is trucking companies print money. small cap value has underperformed for some time. look at tweedy browne small cap value investing firm and since the 90s their annualized returns are 9% losing to the S&P. now if you can find a small cap that has exceptional growth well it is a 100x.

Growth could start to stagnate any day. High rates have been unexpectedly great for tech R&D specifically but tax changes last year are hitting those hard soon which the market hasn't priced in yet, and on the other side rate cuts which were as always priced in too hard will make things drop too when they finally cut at some point this year; probably long after march maybe later than June even, but they're coming... Things could spend the next 6 months irrationally pumping for no reason of course but smart money is exiting so there will be an at least small dump soon of I'd guess 5-10% which smart money will then buy back in to.

Kek so DIS is teaming up and buying a stake in Epic games so they can do the wide open concept gaming thing. Question becomes; Hmm who's already done it and has done such a thing for decades now, why WBD and Square-Enix thats who. Also how is Dis gonna pay for it all? They've hiked their puny divvy 50% (still puny though), gotta still fork out money to Comcast over the Hulu thing, etc. Where's the cash gonna come from. You cannot keep hiking prices at the parks forever. Sooner or later the sheep will flee. (course Comcast will benefit from that so hey works for me). The kicker; WBD is redoing Harry Potter. Will it flop? Will it aid in kicking the stock price higher as the original films did back in 2001-2010? Who knows. But considering the last game they did based on HP put out solid profits I wouldn't be shocked if by the end of the series (7 seasons) today's price will be seen as bargain basement. Now if the bean counters, activist investors, etc all just stay away from WBD and let it work things would be sweet.

Now as a film/show fan I've got mixed feelings on this. Nothing can top the original films. Sure the new series may end up surprising me in a good way (keeping more of the books content) but it also could be a big let down in terms of casting, etc. As an investor though it's different; I want it to draw in as many sheep as it can. The more sheep, the more profit, which translates into a higher stock price for the company.

So that error message is the very bad one. Get more than a few of those in a row and you go under moderator review. I haven’t gotten one of those in months. That means you tripped the first filter, the hard dictionary check. You used an outright no no word like “rape”, “gore”, “kike”, or “George Washington”. The second filter is when your prompt is run through chatgpt for semantic check. This will catch most obvious attempts to circumvent the first filter. After this the prompt is processed by dalle3 to generate your images. A final check is done by having chatgpt interpret the images and then it decides whether the results are too offensive, violent, or pornographic. Failing the final filter is the dog error, and thats the only error I’ve gotten in a long time.

Pretty sure “federal reserve” like all government buildings is banned. You could have failed the semantic filter by including it with negative and violent words, you would have to check by running a prompt with federal reserve and only positive happy words to see if that goes through. Regardless, chatgpt and microsoft make it very hard to make anything that could possibly incite violence.

That's just trading /NG futures. But, you know, there's things like contract roll (aka dealing with contango and backwardation) and margin requirements to that. And your broker would probably need to approve you for it.

Getting a step simpler, there's UNG which is an ETF that deals with next month futures contracts: https://www.uscfinvestments.com/ung

And UNL which deals with a spread of contracts over the next 12 months: https://www.uscfinvestments.com/unl

Meanwhile FCG gives you exposure to nat gas companies (or you can sort through its holdings and choose some companies you think track spot well): https://www.ftportfolios.com/retail/etf/ETFholdings.aspx?Ticker=FCG

Lastly, as a disclaimer, trading nat gas is a very very very very very bad idea for you if you're asking this question. You *are* going to lose money.

Nah, oil dipped to the negatives (this is a fun story on that: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2020-12-10/stock-market-when-oil-when-negative-these-essex-traders-pounced)) because shutting wells is a bitch, storage tanks filled up, and the EPA fines you if you just Exxon Valdez it everywhere.

Nat gas you can just flare (read: burn) any excess.

Oil. Entirely due to paper trade. They were paying people with storage to take their contracts off their hands so they didn’t have to take delivery.

I have a call with my (female) banker tomorrow
What should I discuss with her? She wants to know about my financial goals and banking needs to sell me products I guess, but I don't have any goals or needs...

They have flared oil wells for decades. Natural gas prices have been shit for a long time. Cheaper to burn it off than to try to transport it and process it, especially in the newer shale fields where there is no infrastructure.

Are you thinking of the Gulf War? Because that had some kino fires.

You can check nat gas prices on TradingView or whatever though and see they never went below 1.40-ish.

I don’t live near shale or oil. I live near natural gas. I distinctly remember seeing this during 2020. It was before a move, i remember having just given my 2 weeks notice and every day until I left that job I had to drive past the giant fire ball

I don't really want to do anything... I just like sitting at home watching the markets, posting with you guys, and reading. Occasionally I like to get a hamburger and milkshake. I don't feel like that's the kind of goal she wants to hear about.
The only reason I have a personal banker is because I have so much money at the bank already... money I don't know what to do with.

Not a natural gas or oil bank...

That might have been after bleeding heart libs at the EPA or your state's busybody government put rules on dumping nat gas into the air. Like that other anon said, you can effectively get a negative price if the Henry Hub price is $1.40 but it costs $1.50 to transport from the well to the storage tanks. Then burning it for $0 is the economical choice.
