Welcome to the Monero General, dedicated to the discussion of the world's leading decentralized P2P privacy cryptocurrency!

Monero is secure, low-fee, and fungible, meaning users can send XMR around the globe despite corrupt governments or broken financial systems. Innovative privacy features such as Ring Signatures, Stealth Addresses, and Ring CT ensure that Monero's blockchain is obfuscated -- In other words, the financial history of all Monero users is encrypted from the prying eyes of adversaries on a public blockchain, with transactions being visible only by a user willingly providing a view key.

Monero has also improved upon the scaling downsides of current popular cryptocurrencies. To avoid high fees, dynamic block size ensures that the size of the blocks will increase as the amount of transactions increases. Further, the mining network algorithm RandomX establishes that anybody with a CPU can participate in mining, preventing the ASIC miner domination that creates a high barrier to entry. Lastly, the mining network will be preserved by Tail Emission -- instead of the block reward falling to zero like with Bitcoin, the block reward gradually approached 0.6 XMR in June 2022, where it will forever stay. This constant linear inflation means the inflation rate will asymptotically go to zero while continuing to provide an incentive to miners to maintain the network.

If you still have questions, feel free to ask and a MoneroChad will be with you shortly.

START MINING IN P2POOL
>START MINING IN P2POOL
START MINING IN P2POOL
>START MINING IN P2POOL

P2Pool combines the advantages of pool and solo mining; you still fully control your Monero node and what it mines, but you get frequent payouts like on a regular pool.

P2Pool has no central server that can be shut down/blocked because it uses a separate blockchain to merge mine with Monero. There's no pool admin that can control what your hashrate is used for or decide who can mine on the pool and who can't. It's permissionless!

Decentralized pool mining (P2Pool) is pretty much the ultimate way to secure a PoW coin against 51% attacks. Once P2Pool reaches & maintains 51%+ of the total network hashrate, Monero will be essentially invulnerable to such attacks.

Although many inexperienced miners think that bigger pools give better profits, this is absolutely NOT the case. Your profits in the long run depend ONLY on your hashrate, NOT on the pool's hashrate.

>YOU CAN NOW MINE IN P2POOL FASTER & EASIER THAN EVER BEFORE WITH THE GUPAX GUI. USES TRUSTED REMOTE NODES BY DEFAULT!!!!

1. Download the *bundled* version of Gupax for your OS here: https://gupax.io/downloads/
2. Extract somewhere (Desktop, Documents, etc)
3. Launch Gupax
4. Input your Monero address in the [P2Pool] tab. USE A SEPARATE MINING-ONLY WALLET!
5. Select a Community Monero Node that you trust, although you can and should run your own node if possible.
6. Start P2Pool
7. Start XMRig

You are now mining to your own instance of P2Pool, welcome to the world of decentralized peer-to-peer mining!

START RUNNING AN I2P NODE
>START RUNNING AN I2P NODE
START RUNNING AN I2P NODE
>START RUNNING AN I2P NODE

>What is I2P?

I2P is an anonymized P2P overlay network akin to the Tor network but with several key advantages over it. I2P is now replacing Tor as the go-to darknet and will play a pivotal role in growing the Monerocentric economy.

>Why should I care? Why should I run a node?

Increasing shadow economy adoption and the proliferation of an XMR-only standard are what guarantee that XMR will have a floor and won't also crash to zero when the Crypto Casino finally implodes. XMR's long-term outlook is therefore *strongly* correlated with the darknet, you may have already noticed how the number of TXs begins to drop whenever the glowies attack & cripple the Tor network, which underscores just how critical it is that the darknet wins this war against the State. Make no mistake: if the darknet is allowed to die XMR will take a devastating hit as well.

So by running an I2P node you are helping to make the network Monero thrives in that much more robust while also enraging glowies in the process. Win-win!

>OK, but how difficult is it? Do I have to store GBs worth of data like when running an XMR node?

It is literally as easy as installing an Android app and no, there are no storage requirements, the node only consumes some bandwidth.

>Cool, I'm sold. What do?

If you have no interest in browsing the darknet yourself then the simplest solution is to install & run the I2Pd Android app on any compatible (Android 4.1+) device, ideally a TV box since they don't require recharging and are permanently online. But any old phone or tablet is fine too. Make sure you activate "start on boot" in the settings.

Otherwise just install the appropriate desktop client and leave it running.

>Bitcoin's price = NOT the result of organic real-world supply & demand = NOT sustainable

Wash trading has been artificially driving BTC's insane price action since the first major spike in 2013.

>Wash Trading 101
1. create/maintain the illusion of high volume
2. wait for poor unsuspecting fools to FOMO in
3. dump at a fat profit and leave them holding the bag

When the supply of gullible fools finally runs out, the entire scheme implodes.

TL;DR: exciting price action means nothing in an unregulated market rife with such manipulation, real-world utilization is the ONLY reliable metric of actual value.

>No tail emission = Bitcoin is fucked

Right now, at the current hashrate, miners break even on energy expenses at a BTC price of $22K. Post 2024 halving, that break even point, at the current hashrate, goes up to $44K. If BTC does not go to $44K, miners will be unprofitable and hashrate will have to drop (miners going out of business) to reduce the cost of securing the network, also reducing the security.

If you know anything about the power of 2, you already know that things get very big, very fast. If we’re 3 halvings into 32 total halvings, then the estimated break even point for miners at current hashrate going into the last halving would be:

$22,000 * (2^27) = $2,952,790,016,000 per BTC

$2,952,790,016,000 per BTC * 21 Million total BTC = $62,008,590,336,000,000,000 BTC Market Cap

The block rewards shrink so fast that after enough halvings BTC would eventually require a $2.95 trillion price per BTC and a $62 quintillion market cap to sustain the current cost of $7.15 billion/year.

Even if these numbers were somehow realistic, can you imagine securing a $62 quintillion market cap on only $7.15 billion/year of hashrate? LOL

So basically BTC mining will eventually become so unprofitable the hashrate (network security) will shrivel up UNLESS it is subsidized by BTC transaction fees.

Reposting since the last thread died so fast:

At first, I was sad about the Binance delisting. But now I realize: Do you guys even understand what has just happened?
Due to its widespread adoption, Monero is probably one of the only coins besides Bitcoin that can survive a massive delisting like this. What this means:

>no more paper monero
>no more CEX price manipulation due to coin shortages
>no more futures and widespread degenerate gambling with leverage
>government entities ordered CEX's to stop negotiating Monero, confirming that they can't in fact trace it

Due to the ending of paper Monero and fractional reserves by exchanges, users will have to store ACTUAL monero in their wallets. Banks in a heavily regulated environment are required by law to hold only 8% to 10% of the money their clients have (or 0% since March 15, 2020 if you live in the USA). Binance wasn't required to store anything, and we don't know how much Monero they actually hold. What we knew is that they always had issues with withdrawals, meaning that they didn't hold enough.
Assuming a very conservative estimate that all exchanges have 25% of their users Monero in reserves, that means this delisting could have at least a 4x effect in reducing the supply and consequentially a 4x effect in the price, assuming people just keep using it like normal. This is how we surpass bitcoin.

Binance doesn't have enough Monero to cover all the withdrawals. They can cover for sells but thats it. We can short squeeze them and force them to buyd Monero at the going rate and charge perhaps even more money to get a Monero from our cold dead hands and essentially short squeeze them.

Unless you're LPing stables, you need to be a pro to not lose money to IL. No one wants to hold XMR or BTC against Serai and lose money when they could just hold XMR or BTC. > t-address sends $100 from t-address to z-address
> 2min later, $100 is sent from z-address to t-address
This is a retarded argument. If you only transact between z-addresses, nothing is traceable. Monero is subject to the same heuristics, because exchange addresses are visible to the exchanges and chain analysis. Sending money to an XMR exchange address is the same as sending money to a z-cash t-address for all intents and purposes.

It's true. Bitcoin didn't spike in price until well after chain analysis was developed, which suggests it's a giant liquidity trap to keep non-dollar flows either in traceable coins (BTC) or traceable stablecoin dollar equivalents that support Treasuries demand (Tether, USDC). There's a reason China banned mining and now fucking 38% of hash rate is in the US under OFAC controls. Ethereum also cucked out to US government pressure by going PoS, with the SEC at one point claiming legal authority over the entire blockchain because a majority of Ethereum validators are in the US. The US and EU even have pressure on Binance. What did they do with that pressure?

They delisted Monero, because it works.

Check BCH too, Electron Cash does easy coin mixing, it is widely accepted if you want to purchase something, the non custodial BCH Bull can be used to hedge against BTC or Gold or USD or whatever if you are afraid that BCH will drop in value compared to them and the fees are super low. LTC has that segwit crap like BTC that perverts miner incentives. I never liked LTC. It seemed like a desparate attempt to be different without doing anything of significance differently.

I'm not telling you to invest in anything. Ideally you should diversify on actually useful stuff.

But I would keep some on an Electron Cash wallet with mixing enabled for three rounds. I do use BCH to buy stuff, and it works like BTC used to work. Not having to think about fees (whether for on-chain txs or for re-balancing channels) is great, and easy coin mixing is a bonus. Before you buy BCH, check if the stuff you usually buy accept it. Mine do.

I forgot to reply to that. I really don't know anon, depends what you mean by better. I *like* BCH better, but the price is shittier than BTC and maybe the prospects are too, or maybe not. I think tech-wise it's better. And the community has more ancaps so that's a plus for me but maybe a minus for you. XMR is even better using these criteria though. BTC HAS been taken over by banksters, I don't know how anyone can deny that at this point. They've turned it into a useless currency just to force people into centralized-or-shitty-experience layer-2 solutions. The whitepaper of Bitcoin doesn't apply to BTC anymore.

It's not the download that's taking a long time, it's the speed of your storage being able to verify all of the transactions on the blockchain. Even running it on NVME and SSD takes a really long time, but if you were to try this on a cheap hard drive with substandard read/write speeds it would take weeks to fully synchronize the blockchain. I've not looked into that specific kind of setup but the benefits are probably marginal. If you need quick access to your monero, the best thing is to have it already set up and ready to transact. Even connecting to a remote node has your wallet doing quick "checks" that takes time to synchronize.

Binance withdrawals were suspended twice already this week alone. They don't have much Monero remaining in their reserves. Nonetheless, there will be negative price action during the short term, but the long term benefits of going on without a printer on your asset will greatly outweigh that. 1) More txs in each block as you get to more recent blocks.

Well, Monero-lovers? Are we going to let down our Monero?
Are we moonboys or anonymous enemies of the fiat system? Are we not going to endure a drop against the dollar? Did we trade the idea of Monero for pennies? No, I can see in your eyes, there are no moonboys here.

Not that kind! Here is the steeling of 2014! Three-cycle! Here it reeks of anonymity at the bottom! Here the Monero-lovers guard their coin, their anonymity, and their freedom tightly! No one will even stir here for the sake of reckless Xs, for the sake of high liquidity and women's bank accounts! Different motivations, different morals grow here!

Here a man guards anonymity. We are small ourselves. We can get carried away by the dry wind in the fields, we can even get lost. Our Monero strengthens us to the ground with its roots, like an ancient oak tree's rootstock! With Monero, we can endure any drops. And from that, we ourselves guard our Monero - on our side, with our chill.

If we see that Monero is not doing well, then we'll take off the last shirt from our torso - "buy the dip!" we, men, don't choke when Monero falls! And anyone who goes against our Monero, who stirs up trouble - we will do this - by the scruff of the neck - and show memes! Because troubles are beneficial to the bright, agile, sweet, and minty moonboys! Those who sneak into our bed like a snake! Who tries to fall into our porridge from the ceiling like a woodlouse! We are alien to Xs! Our mother didn't tell us those fairy tales in the cradle! We started different songs in Discord!

Come on, guys, start buying the dip! Tomorrow two exchanges will delist, we will buy on bestchange, courier will deliver cash right to the house - we will be full of Monero, and whatever else, Monero-lovers - we will survive, earn, buy monero-stickers from the moneromarket, and stick them on the sly!

>No, nomad. we're just laughing at the monero-loonies who "just won" by delisting and breaze crystalized copium by holding "monerochka-pisechka".

You're unnerved that we don't buy into your delusions like everybody else, its creating cognitive dissonance in your wetbrain so you feel the need to come here and "mock the losers" to make yourself feel better.

Hope you feel somewhat more reassured now, anon.

Monero Comrades,

In the spirit of irreverence, reminiscent of the Cossacks' bold missive to the Ottoman Sultan in 1676, we address you with fervor and defiance. For we are not just Monero-lovers; we are the guardians of an elusive treasure, the defenders of anonymity, and the architects of a digital rebellion.

As we stand united against the ominous winds of uncertainty, let our resolve echo through the digital plains, just as the Cossacks boldly proclaimed their autonomy in the face of a mighty empire. We are not here for reckless pursuits or to appease the whims of the fiat system; we are here for Monero, and Monero alone.

Much like the steeling of 2014, we embark on a three-cycle journey, rooted in the principles of privacy and freedom. The scent of anonymity permeates our ranks, and, like the Cossacks, we guard our coin with an unyielding grip, ready to resist any attempt to seize our digital sovereignty.

No mere moonboys, we find strength in the roots that Monero extends into the very fabric of our beliefs. In the face of drops against the dollar, we remain unshaken, drawing inspiration from the resilience of an ancient oak's rootstock. Our commitment to Monero goes beyond the pursuit of pennies; it is a pact to endure and prosper in the face of adversity.

When the need arises, we will strip ourselves of the last shirt, proudly declaring, "buy the dip!" in defiance of market uncertainties.

As the Cossacks showed irreverence to the Ottoman Sultan, so shall we, with memes as our modern-day weaponry. Those who dare to oppose our Monero will be seized by the scruff of the neck, for we are the custodians of a different song sung in the digital Discord.

So, Monero-lovers, let the exchanges delist, let the troubles brew; for in the face of these challenges, we will emerge stronger, earning and adorning ourselves with Monero-stickers as symbols of our unyielding commitment.

Absolutely nothing.

1 XMR = 2 HRS LABOR = 2g Au = 6Toz Ag

>> No.57568463

>>57568359
XMR is a lot scarcer than Au, Ag, or labor at those rates though. It'd need to be 0.01 or 0.001 XMR.

Maybe one day, but that day is not today. In fact due to the daamping the equation wouldn't hold up. I'm devising a more elegant solution. How's this?
.5xmr x 1g Au x 3Toz ag
Man Hour = ---------------------------------
