TurboTax is easy as hell. My company gives me the pro version for free so I use that. Otherwise there are other free alternatives. If you expect a refund you could also consider paying for turbotax pro or whatever it's called, it's around 90$ iirc but it's a small part of a normal ~3k refund. Anyway you can always use the free version.

Also, if you owe, you can pay them with a credit card, for a slight free of I think 1.8%, but my CC gives me 2% cash back so I make some money that way.

Put half of it it in a nice cozy mutual fund. If you want to take all the guesswork out of it, there are a number of funds that seek to duplicate the performance of the S&P 500. If you want to invest in the big up-and-comers like Apple and Nvidia and so on, PRWAX has done well by me.

The other half? Stick it in short-term Treasury bills while interest rates are high and sit on it until you know what you want to do with it.

that's what i began asking myself as a public accountant in my 7th year as I watched my boomer boss run around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to get all these returns filed before the deadline. Its even deeper than that though. If they wanted, they could have access to all your banking activity so they would already know what all your ins and outs were and how much you made for the year, even some self employed contractor with shit record keeping. At the very least, I would argue that the public accounting/tax preparation industry should just be nationalized and done in house by governement employees. Why is there this army of overweight boomers that kill themselves making sure all these tax returns get filed year after year, doing the government's job for them. But they arent the government. My thoughts are if the government wants this money collected and these returns filed, they should pony up the payroll to get it done themselves and give the employees the comfy govt benefits and gibs that the independent accountant does not get. Its a major reason why I decided to leave the profession.
