The reason people use ETH is because it's the most advanced and decentralized smart contract layer, that chooses maximum decentralization and security over low cost transactions.

The good news is eventually you'll be able to natively onboard onto L2's that inherit security with low cost gas, and it'll be more suited to your needs.

I also find the gas too high (sometimes), so I mostly use L2's. Eventually when the product UI/UX improves you might not even know you are using an L2. That's the end goal.

Currently though, if you just want to send something cheaply? Use an L2.
