It seems like if you don't put your eggs in one basket, you don't get fucked unless the entire market crashes, in which case you get fucked as a passive investor anyways. Swing trading 'works' when you can credibly assume a stock will go up to a certain point, sell and then you wait for it to dump back to the support which it will bounce off of and continue to go up.
