Can someone explain why segwit was needed? If satoshi came up with halvenings and hash rate so btc would scale into the future then why was segwit never mentioned?

it was never needed. but they kept the blocks small to effectively cripple btc as peer to peer cash system. Segwit was then added to increase the block size without really increasing the block size, this would also allow for LN to work better. which flopped. SegWit was implemented to makes 100pct sure that second layer product blockstream develops will be dominant. so they can extract fees... twice!
