How strict are you about your backtesting? Because if you backtest with any amount of "well obviously I wouldn't do this here because..." that's real bad. All strategies have drawdown. It's entirely possible to start trading right in a shitty spot for your strategy. If you know the strategy works over time and know didn't inject bias in to your backtest, keep going.

TA strategy backtesting should ideally be done on multiple historical periods with a variety of market conditions. When I was putting mine together I did some in the 1970s, 80s, 90s. I looked at dot com crash and 2008 to see how it would do there. There's a nasty trap you can fall in to with backtesting relatively recent years. If you, for example, did a test on stuff from 2008 bottom up to present, you might be in some trouble. That section of price action should be only one of several you test.

It's simpler than that, paper trading assumes fill at the midprice, which is uncommon except for highly liquid order books like SPY or QQQ. Bid-ask of say 0.5% means you effectively lose that much on every trade (half going in, half going out). I am a europoor and I think this. Wages have never been this crazy high. A simple arborist makes more than a master-level engineer. If you have any valuable experience, you can get so much money in any job nowadays. Even shit tier jobs now pay well.
Food is still pretty cheap if you don't buy crap. The only thing that is still a bit crazy are house prices but loans are still pretty cheap here.

All the non-farm payroll and those kinds of jobs reports are being revised down, I think 11 of the last 12 reports were revised down or something like that. Short term we're in layoff season and long term a lot of the jobs are part time or government made, so it's weaker than it looks. But it's not like job creation is flat or unemployment is out of control. They're both OK.

Middle East Supply Chain Disruption 2: Revengeance is a factor. So is how the Fed handles the cuts. But a soft or at least soft-ish landing isn't impossible from here. After that we'll see.
