Well the 401k is "managed" by the KY Deferred Compensation board. (reality;uh the actual custodian of it is Nationwide Investment Services Corp out of ohio). My 401k is a traditional one; individual funds. Most now they give you a choice of Target Funds and that's it. The Target funds suck.
