Marrying someone for money alone is dumb. Marriage in general however puts you significantly ahead of singles though. Pooled assets, insurance in the form of a second income if you lose your job, sharing the burden of chores and other responsibilities, easier access to mortgages, held in higher esteem socially. Choosing the right person to marry is easier said than done however. Hot wet pussy is the mindkiller.

Financially speaking, a married man is in a better position than an unmarried man but he also has MUCH more to lose compared to a guy that's single.

Marriage has a purpose, but most people use it wrong. It's a business partnership. If you marry a woman you want as a business partner and genuinely build mutual value by being in the arrangement, marriage works. If you get married and both people just passively or God help you, actively see how much misery and limitations on good living one person can inflict on the other, it's garbage. I think saying half of all marriages are complete trash is conservative. Marriage can be amazing ideally, but how it typically plays out in practice is a disaster.

It's usually some guy getting guilted or otherwise psychologically bullied into marrying a girl who isn't actually a functioning adult on any level, the guy ends up being split between trying to develop himself professionally and babysitting his wife who will increasingly demand more and more out of him, including bringing additional children besides herself into the arrangement. She won't regulate her parents who will almost certainly be awful as well, so the guy's inlaws will be terrible. The whole thing ends up being an experiment in how miserable a person can become before they just say "I don't give a fuck anymore" and either kill their wife or eject from the marriage with no regard for the consequences at all because at that point they just want to get a gasp of oxygen.

It doesn't have to be that way at all, but that's how it plays out again and again and again because people misuse marriage and especially because they let shitty women bully them into a marriage. I've seen that same story told with different characters and different settings, but the plot is always is the same. And every mother fucker out there is running around making life decisions like they have never seen it before.

Can anyone on /biz/ name a single financial benefit of marriage?

Not "dual income" or "since only one of us works we get to be in a lower tax bracket" - what's the financial benefit to marrying someone?
