Greece and Turkey are struggling financially and beachfront houses can be bought at a bargain price.
Weirdly enough, Bulgaria is expensive af, Croatia, too, but that's to be expected.
I'd also look at Bosnia and Montenegro tbqh

800k euros would be a beachfront villa that you can get lost in, or you're looking at the wrong websites.
Even those in Bulgaria that shocked me with how expensive they are are almost half that.
Example: https://www.imot.bg/pcgi/imot.cgi?act=5&adv=1j169580125718697
half a milly + 100k would be needed to completely renovate

I legit love the place. I was looking at it 2 years ago, it was cheaper back then, but I still felt it's too pricey so I ended up buying on Palm Jumeirah at barely double the price per sq meter. Would be super worth it if another bull run is to start soon.
>>57274332
>Croatian islands
I don't want to be too isolated, and Croatia is a bit more civilized so if I buy, it might be a town home in Zagreb, Split or Rijeka. I like having the option to go amongst people and chug a few beers alongside a plate full of cevapcici.

All boils down to taste.

Not arguing, as I said everything boils down to taste, but keep in mind Dubai is the last place I'd visit as a tourist, but it's actually a pretty solid base to live in.
0 tax, least amount of crime for the past decade, good schools and direct flights to everywhere you want.
And, the Palm is chill af, no need to live in a skyscraper like a wagie. Temperatures on the Palm barely hit 40 in the summer, it's legit 10 degrees cooler than the rest of Dubai (sans Al Barari where apparently the trees also lower the temperature).

If you plan on any sort of early retirement, you should pick a country based on the political -, cultural - and demographic trends.
Turkey is on a diminishing secular trend, they are on the rise as a regional power and will likely find themselves in various conflicts in the future, it is also becoming more totalitarian.

Not to be controversial, but there is a noticeable shift in weather patterns, with more extreme weather becoming more frequent. Would perhaps not be the worst idea to incorporate this into you emigration-roleplay.

My candidates are SEA (Singapore, Hongkong, etc). Northern Italy, Southern France, Switzerland, the most south-west part of Germany could also work.. and if you are on a budget Spain (the part where there are Northern Europeans).

If your main residence can't handle a Waco/Ruby Ridge style siege by the feds, you're doing it wrong. Always have an escape route, never let the feds surround you, never let the feds outgun you.

>with more extreme weather becoming more frequent
Former meteorologist and climatologist here, this is a common misconception. Extreme weather events are not more common. The damages from extreme weather events have increased due to increased human construction in areas subject to extreme weather events (building in fire zones in California, flood zones in the South, etc). Policy makers can't tell the difference because all they're looking at is the budget outlay and insurance costs.

Rain patterns ARE shifting, but they're always shifting. Just don't live in an overpopulated desert or above the arctic circle or above 6,000 feet and you'll be able to build a proper house for yourself without too much effort. A large water storage tank is enough to handle water service disruption due to rioting long enough for you to get out of the country, no matter where you are.
