I am tracking the global m2 question, but I don't find any m2 aggregates available from other sources, and don't trust the only one that has it. Varying CBs also calculate it differently.
I'm working on assembling an aggregate myself and looking for correlation and btw will make a thread when I do.

The basic idea is that for you to operate a spot fund you need to own spot. Thus, when people buy the etf and shares are created, the fund manager must also purchase equivalent spot to populate the fund. Furthermore we assume there is money sidelined that would be invested if a security was available. Spot is taxed differently, has different rules about reporting and ownership, cannot be held in certain vehicles, many issues with this.

Problems here: they are not settled in real btc OR they carry some kind of discount/premium thus are not tracking the underlying well.
My expectation is that the first activity you see is net zero, funds flowing out of those proxy products and into these new etfs. Then later you get a stream of additions to the etfs. It's not a shotgun blast kind of thing, but like we've just opened another door.
