Walkers of course! Though sometimes the 1892/1893 commemorative Columbian Exposition halves can be bought in batches at basically the same premium as other Junk silver, so I think those are the best cheap circulated halves to get when available at a good price.

Right now, we are charged 1 trillion a year in usury interest payments on the national debt. To pay for this, they raise the debt and print more, furthering the cycle of increasing interest. There r these nifty inventions that allowed peoplento draw things with ease, a half silver mirror would let some light through, akin to an overhead projector, but only requiring the elusive half silvered mirror [and a steady hand of course]
Silver is one of the most reflective metals. Often used in the inner workings of telescope mirrors for their ability to hold a fine polishing.

Imagine the majesty of holding a kilo of gold, palladium, platinum etc.
I snagged 5kilos of Te last year as one of those FOMO investments that could be one of those special investments that has its day in the sun.
As far as long term savings are concerned, it's pretty comfy having exposure to price action and not tied up in owning bullshit stocks or bonds. Commodity prices can be just as lucrative when the time is right.
It's an endangered element and has the useful chemical structure of assisting in the movement of electrical current to make it faster with less resistance.

And it's at the wrong side of the country, 6h+ away from my family, but living closer to my family would cost approx half a million more. Which I don't have and can't even imagine to borrow. Like, how do you even live with such a huge debt on your shoulders?

ebay. There are companies that sell elements for chemistry labs etc and there are some for sale. Granted, I paid a stupid fucking premium for it when the price per kilo is only $65. But I justify it as a lottery ticket I can hold to get my by on a long-long timeline. I bet I spent $850 for 5 kilos for $380 worth of the metal.

It's based on a mathematical model which simulates a coin as a circular disc with a free edge:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/276297204_The_music_of_gold_Can_gold_counterfeited_coins_be_detected_by_ear
https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/19700009156/downloads/19700009156.pdf
I used those equations to make a Python script which generates the frequencies, then all you have to do is ring the coin next to a spectrograph (pic related) and compare what you observe to what is predicted. The first three modal frequencies (the largest spikes) should line up with the theoretical vibrations for a disc of that size and composition. I've tested about a dozen different types of coins such as Eagles, Krugerrands, 20 Francs, Pandas, Philharmonics, and Maples, and they all line up with what is expected.

My very limited reading of ping apps tells me current apps need to have parameters for specific coins loaded onto the phone - they don't allow for the user to enter physical characteristics and from that formulate the frequencies. Right, the advantage of using a mathematical model (specifically this is the Kirchhoff-Love plate theory) is that you can define the physical properties (thickness, radius, metallic composition) and generate any set of frequencies without needing a dataset. As a bonus, you can also compare that to other metals of a disc of that size to help detect fakes. For example, in my output you can see the frequencies of elements that are often used in fake gold coins like tungsten. Even though gold and tungsten have a similar density, so their size could be identical, tungsten vibrates about twice as high as gold which would look very obvious on a spectrograph.
>>57251891

There are so many moving parts that it's pretty impressive the whole thing doesn't just shatter like brittle glass. My take on all of this is that all of the nations agree on 5+ year long economic agreements. The banks can do their best to help move things along to promote normalcy. But at some point these nations will be renegotiating trade and ultimately a massive jubilee will have to occur. And that manifests itself with a massive move higher in PMs as that can clear the debts and also keep the banks capitalized.
They can't cover all of their bases and physical holdings of metal is where smart money will be situated. I don't see any other way this plays out and they can't kick the can 30+ more years after we have been checking off milestones that can't be undone such as ruining the Fed's balance sheet. This is like watching a junky tell you he can quit whenever he wants, but for for some reason insists on hitting rock bottom before his empty promise of "I can change" pans out. If they could fix things they would have. The only way out is bankrupycy and about $250TN worth of losses are here to be divvied out.

perhaps scam is not the correct word anon

- fiat is based on what? its value is not backed by any physical asset, instead derived from the trust and confidence that people place in the government that issues it. a big issue with fiat is the unlimited printing power the issuing central bank / government has
- crypto? its too soon to tell, i dont personally believe in it. it value is derived again by trust and confidence, but also with added benefit of no counter party risk, anonymity and limited / fixed supply. i can see its appeal and its often referred as digital gold
- stonks; they shouldnt be classed in the same category as gold, silver or crypto as they are not really a 'currency' making device by their proven historic nature, more of a store of value. Stonks are a tool which allows people who think a company makes good shit gives money to that company to help expand, with the promise of some % fiat in return

outside of being a store of value, gold and silver also have practical uses in the field of electronics and medicine for example, much of our modern electronic world is owed to silver and its implentation

my main question is, why the fuck are you posting so much vapid stuff on a forum which has people who love stacking and collecting precious metals? whats your end goal? very confusing.

further more, today's financial instruments could be seen as the very definition of a scam, ie synthetics which simulates the performance of another asset, but doesn't involve owning the actual asset. created using various financial derivatives like options, futures, or swaps

this was the basis of the 2008 financial crisis

also it literally has the word synthetic (artificial, not natural, imitation)

if you trust fiat, fine you do you. i dont, probably all the people on this board dont. i prefer to store my wealth in tangible assets like gold, silver and property.

Values in AUD, $100 investment. Cash vs silver vs stonks

Inflation Rate = ((CPI in 2022 - CPI in 2000) / CPI in 2000) * 100

Inflation Rate = (($178.10 - $100) / $100) * 100
Inflation Rate = ($78.10 / $100) * 100
Inflation Rate = 78.10%

Value of the $100 in 2022 dollars would be:

$100 - 78.10% of $100 = $100 - $78.10 =

$21.90 in 2022 money

11.76 ounces of silver (apprx $8.50/oz start of 2000)
11.76 * approx $35/oz end of 2022 = $411.60 in 2022 money

5% return on stock market over 20 years on $100 = $265

Incorrect

Jan 2012 silver was around ~$29oz
Today its currently $34.33oz

So not lower

>40% premium you paid

Last year I paid 17.4% average

>You lost over 80%

lol you should do some research before spewing your retarded 'facts'

I am basing inflation data between 2012 and 2022 (thats the most recent I have)

Jan 2012 silver was around ~$29oz == 3.4oz for $100

Today its currently $34.33 an oz == ~$116 for the 2012 purchase

Inflation was 26% over that 10 year period (average 2.3%)

Purely by numbers without the premium I would have beat inflation by ~10%. Premiums go both ways btw. You don't sell at spot, or shouldn't. But again you wouldnt know that.

Oh! That makes the scale more sensible, although the source you use has a different assessment of prices. Kitco shows a definite higher set of prices in 2012, and I have to say that is my experience as well. I started buying in 2012 and over the years saw the spot drop to a third of when I started, and now it's only two-thirds up to where I started.

Based exonumania and severe looming cryolite and flouridite shortage which are vital in the production of aluminum pilled. I learned that from a fuckin meme, that those are precursors to the production of aluminum from ore, though similar to bread, once you have pure aluminum, thay can be used as the starter seed to extract the metal from the ore. Anyone got pics of the cnc anons aluminum piles

Looking for advice lads/ladettes

I'm willing/able to put aside 1,800 Great British Pounds per annum and place it in PM's. As you can tell, i'm a bong. What would you advise I spend it on? Silver is taxed out the arse so don't feel I'll be able to get as much clink per buck. I'm looking towards gold. But what sort? Are sovereigns the way to go?

>> No.57256095

>>57256050
How much is the tax. With 1800 quid, it isn’t a whole much per year. I’d probably go for silver so you can slowly stack each month instead of waiting ages for gold.

Fractional gold has a higher premium so you’d be getting less gold for your quid

>> No.57256104

>>57256050
Sovereigns are cool, with that budget you might as well start with one or two and figure out for later purchases whether you want to look for lower premium stuff at the expense of it being less interesting. Shame about the VAT on silver, but might still be worth getting a little later on just to fondle (or get non-physical if you really want exposure without the cuck tax)

VAT is 20%, Gold isn't subject to VAT however.
1,800 is just a tenth of my yearly post tax income, just felt it would be better to set myself a zone to aim for.
>>57256104
Have seen posters in the past talking about getting any bits an bobs of silver/sterling silver from car boot sales and antique shops for near spot. Which sounds like the way i'll go to avoid the AG VAT.

Fellow bong. Depends on what you're stacking for, because you want a hedge against inflation and to diversify your savings? Or because you think the Jews are controlling the system and want to get away from FIAT? Or because you think a solar flare is going to wipe out all technology and somehow people will be trading silver/gold for land and the initial chaos won't be about resources first?

> car boot sales and antique shops
Unless you live in the valleys or the Scottish highlands then you won't have much luck. You might get lucky every now and then, but more likely it'll be silver plated passed off as real silver or you're over-paying for something. Auction rooms are another scam to avoid. eBay is the same unless you can find a reputable seller, but you won't find any for gold. Coin shops charge a hefty premium so avoid them as well.

Yeah, it is. People are posting $1 face value pics or even cupro nickel shit like it's worth something significant. It's weird and completely different than other stacking communities I post in.
