Careful bro. Announcing reports is an offense.

But back on topic, bitcoin is up 8% today. Most of that pump happened this afternoon, vaguely correlating to this massive SPY/QQQ pump. Interestingly, yields are fairly steady and DXY is flat, indicating that today's move is not like the bull run of the past 2 months. This is an unusual pump. Seems like the bitcoin ETF hype/rumors is driving the stock market, which is something I'd personally not bet on as a source of sustainable gains. Seems like a selling opportunity.

right im working on increasing my income but right now i can only invest about 5k per year which is below the roth ira limit so ive been doing everything in an ira. that is what is great about them like on your play selling the nividia, and putting it into microsoft would be as simple as that. no taxes to worry about, unless of course you were to withdrawal the gains before 59 1/2 then you would owe gains tax AND a 10% penalty. that is the disadvantage of them basically the money is locked away until 59 1/2.

my goal is to increase my income to where i can max the roth 6500 and have extra money to invest in a taxable account. gains aren't a bad problem, and taxes aren't a bad problem. i would rather pay taxes and have gains than not.

my advice would be have some sort of HYSA or something like that and move the tax percentage from your gain into there so at the end of the year it's ready to go to the IRS. paying taxes is infinitely better than not and ending up getting fucked by the government.

2000s is the effect of IRA and stocks becoming de facto pension system for the US. Literally all of US stock outperformance over the rest of the world is explained by multiple expansion, not productivity or profitability. It's all just a flow ponzi.

Question is what will happen when the flows slow down or even worse when there are more net withdrawers than net depositors.

Roth IRAs are great for day trading.
Ironically if you're actually saving passively for retirement as intended, they don't actually add much value. In fact, the flexibility of a buy and hold SPY/VOO position in a taxable account is probably worth more than the 15% tax savings a roth will offer that only kicks in past 60 years old.

>> No.57225537

>>57225469
yep. i just wish they would change the rules on them and have it to where you can go all the way back to when you legally become an adult and make up for previous years, since people usually are not financially responsible in their early 20s or dont have the income at that time to max their ira. as you get older your income increases and i think you should be able to make up for missed contributions on previous years. oh well it is what it is.

the money being locked in their until 59 1/2 does suck and i battled with the idea of taxable vs a roth for a long time before investing. i ended up deciding that it would be a motivator to increase my income to where the 6500 is only a minor part of my yearly investments and then i can do some more short/mid term type plays in a taxable. also at the end of the day if you stay the course of investing and dont max contribute to your ira and do reach that age, in good health, you would probably really end up beating yourself up over all the money you could have saved in taxes. that was another motivator for me.

Will MSTR crash when BTC ETF is approved?

I want to YOLO all in on a leveraged BTC play, and I think this is less insane than buying say, MARA or something. Buying just BTC, you ain't getting rich on that shit anymore unless you have a million at least already invested.

The question is, is the premium too high? Will the % of people that is holding MSTR for the lack of an spot ETF dump and cause the stock price to lower? It's already struggling to keep $600 as BTC pumps. And everything just looks so fucking frontrunned. Look at ROI from miners and MSTR last year.

I am going all in with 360k and hoping to 3x this, that would be enough in my country, then I will go into a diversified ETF that pays dividends. I will keep reinvesting the dividends to grow my main bag.

>the money being locked in their until 59 1/2 does suck and i battled with the idea of taxable vs a roth for a long time before investing
>at the end of the day if you stay the course of investing and dont max contribute to your ira and do reach that age you would probably really end up beating yourself up over all the money you could have saved in taxes. that was another motivator for me
Have you actually done the math?

VOO pays a 1.5% dividend. Assuming that stays steady, over 30 years you would pay 1.5% x 15% = 0.23% of asset value as taxes per year.
If you're poor, those dividends may be tax free. If you're rich enough to hit 20%, this topic is probably irrelevant to your longterm wealth. If you live somewhere with a state income tax, the cumulative tax impact is a bit worse.

So, adding the ETF management fee, the total NAV drag is around 0.25%. Over a 30-40 year stretch, this will compound to a 7-8% drag relative to the index. Then there's the taxable gains as you draw down on your position in the index. This would be again 15% tax on all unrealized gains. Over long time horizons, stock indexed tend to multiply to the point where most of the position is unrealized gain. A cost basic from 30 years ago is nothing compared to today. At 8% annualized nominal gain, you're up 10x over 30 years, meaning 90% is unrealized gains or a weighted 13.5% cost to sell.
Over the entire period, the cost is ~20-25% slippage relative to the pure tax-free performance of the index.

On the other hand, there's the risks of a forced sell down of Roth IRA holdings to fund some emergency expense. In this case, you pay taxes on all gains at short term income rates plus a 10% penalty. Lets say you stick to the 24% tax bracket. Total tax impact is 34%, more than the maximum long-term tax impact of the basic post-tax account buy and hold strategy.
You can weigh these risks yourself and decide whether a Roth IRA is worth it to you. If you trade regularly, the math's different.

If your stocks you buy with the money loaned tank or you fail to pay back what you owe then the brokerage can/will sell anything you have in the account to cover it. At will. You won't have a choice. They let the menu get so complicated over the past 10 years. I remember reading stores in multiple business papers about how wait times kept creeping up and up and up. The all day breakfast was the first move to have an impact, and it just got worse after that. They kept saying they were going to improve operations, but I never noticed any improvement. And that was at multiple MCD locations. MCD is coasting on reputation and brand recognition due to advertising saturation. Eventually, that goodwill runs out.
Also, the milkshake machine is always broken.

LEAPS: Calls that expire at least several months from now

The various columns: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/greeks.asp

Selling puts: You sell a put (a contract saying you'll buy shares at a certain price) of, say, $60 with an expiration a month from now. Some degenerate buys it for like 80 cents, you pocket the cash. If ARM keeps crabbing at $70, the degenerate loses and loses until the expiration date when the contract expires and you're home free. If ARM drops to $60 (or $50 or $40) before expiration, you may have to buy shares for the cost of $60. So either you get free money or you, as they say, "bag cheapies" and buy ARM shares at a low price.

Make sense?

As ARM rises, the put you sold will drop in price even faster than just waiting for expiration*. That would allow you to buy it back and sell another put at a higher price for more money.

As for the LEAP side, that's just a call. It goes up in value the same as any other call, albeit a bit slower than your usual 0dte nonsense because it's long-dated/expires a while from now.

*Remember those Greeks? That drop in price from it rising = delta. The waiting for expiration part = theta.

It is what it is. It's the winning move, he gets a kid and triples his money on BABA. While the father seethes everyday knowing that he lost the argument, and the guy he lost to is fucking his daughter every night. In the end Anon has a kid $60k worth of BABA shares and the father is seething and his wife probably hates him as well because he pussied out on funding the wedding.

I would never invest in any company based out of Michigan.
Such flat and uninteresting terrain breeds mediocrity and complacency.
