The only reason a man should be traveling is for business or to find a wife. If you’re paying $2k to go visit a beach in Thailand or Dubai then you’re not gonna make it.

Discovering culture (and actually engaging with them, not staying in the hotel) makes you a more refined individual, more cultured, expands your worlds view and make you more appreciative of your own culture.

I'd say that travels, books, clothes you feel nice in and good meals with people you love is what life is all about.

Picrel, I experienced awe for the first time seeing this at Florence. It's beyond money and "wealth".
I will go back there before I die, for sure.

It's worth it for the sex. I fucked almost an entire family in the Philippines:

1) the 18 year old daughter, this all started with her. she was dtf a foreigner. 1 hour after meeting her I was barebacking her in my bed.
2) her 22 yo sister that I met while "dating" the 18 year old, she went behind her sisters back to get my creampie. Sister eventually found out. Drama....but we still fucked regularly.
3)the gay brother who was a ladyboy, sucked my dick and swallowed. Fucked him in the ass since he begged for it. Looked a lot like his sisters. 39kg and 5' 2". Prostate orgasm from being pounded. Pretty cute.
4)the 45 yo mom. I had known all of them for about two years at this point and she was well aware of what I was doing to her daughters. I seduced her and came inside of her.
5) the 35 yo aunt. I got her pregnant since she lived like 10minutes away and came over every day after he work to fuck and get a creampie. She was surprised she got pregnant (again). I wasn't. My kid from her is 4 years old now.
6) aunt 2. Met me through aunt 1. I fucked her while aunt 1 was in the other room. She knew. Begged me to cum inside of her. Had baby rabies since her sister was pregnant at the time and it was making her jealous.

Their other brother worked at sea on a ship so I couldn't get my hands on him. Dad was dead and probably rolling in his grave.

After I made it from the 2017 bull run I traveled the world for about a year. Its worth it to go to a few places around the world, discover shit, meet people, explore. But it can be stressful and a lot of work, and after a while you get the feeling you've pretty much seen enough crazy shit. I got kind of sick of the lifestyle. Now I mostly just travel within the US or to Europe every few months.

I learned the play couple instruments, go camping, fishing, etc. I started a family too which takes an assload of time and I have no clue how people do it while also working a full time job. In general, it's not worth it. Which is why it's important to have a reason to travel, something to materially (or existentially) improve your life.
For the same reasons, I hate visiting tropical countries because they're all worthless with no history or real culture and most people just spend thousands of dollars to sit on a beach.

This is now a /trv/ map thread

BTW yes traveling is worth it as a hobby but not as an escape from your life. If you travel with the expectation travel will magically make your life way better you are wrong. If you travel to fulfill an interest in culture or nature or just mere curiosity or literally just because you had some time to kill and extra cash then go for it.

>Is traveling overrated?
No.
>Is it worth the money?
Absolutely. It's not even expensive. I spent like $10k each time I went for three months so it was reasonably affordable. I saw a ton of very cool stuff and if nothing else it gives me more to talk about which makes me a more interesting person than if I'd played 3 months worth of video games.

Yeah in my case I'm trying to visit every fine art museum and most of the big tourist spots, like Stonehenge. I couldn't just go to a city to dance in clubs or drink in bars or fuck around on a beach. And it's obvious when you talk to people who've traveled and gone to see things you can only see in other places, compared to people who do a week in fiji and just stay in the hotel, the club next to the hotel, and the beach across the street from the hotel. The first type of person is way more interesting.

That said you don't need to travel to be interesting. A person who's interested in and well-read about the Roman Empire, but never been to Italy, is more interesting than the person who went to Rome for 3 days and rode around on one of those tourist buses and took guided tours of the colosseum and vatican.

But USA is god tier for road trips. Some of my favorite trips are road trips and camping trips. The mix of being out on the open road all alone and having open views of the milky and shooting stars, stumbling upon interesting small towns, exploring places you didn't plan to, going on back country hikes and camping for free with basically endless territory to explore is wonderful. Plus I love driving through multiple climate zones in a day. But yeah if you want to go to some pretty old town packed with history it sucks.

I don't believe you can have a satisfying visit to anywhere in France or Italy in a single weekend. I spent over three months in each country and didn't feel it was long enough. I'm STILL not done with France, I have like a third of the country left to see.

Weekend trips are for like visiting the beach, or seeing a Broadway show, or maybe a day of skiing. Not for trying to even skim the surface of Rome or Paris.

I agree if you are going on a weekend trip expecting to check a country of your list forever that's not smart. But to be fair if you can bop over somewhere for a weekend and recognize you need to come back and you're only scratching the surface there's no harm in it.

Just seems like a waste of money as an American. Of course if you're taking a cheap train in Europe, like from Rome to Florence, or Munich to Venice, I guess it can make sense, but in America if you have to fly it's an all day affair to get through security, fly, land, and get to where you're going. It's NOT fast of convenient. So for me going even just across country for anything less than a full week feels like a waste of money. Road trips are better, because there's stuff to see along the way and with your car you can stay and do more. Like when I went to Florida, I stayed in the state driving around for 3 weeks I think. I can't imagine flying from LA, or even NYC, to eg London for just a weekend and then flying back.

Traveling can grant you perspective. Traveling cannot solve all your problems for you. Your individual experience will fall somewhere in there between those two.

If you're traveling to cities you're basically spending thousands of dollars to go from one shithole overrun by Muslims to another shithole overrun by Muslims. There isn't a functional difference between staying the week in Paris than there is in Rome, New York, Melbourne, Capetown, or Cairo. Every city is just packed together hodgepodge of the entire world population but with the lowest common dominator being the dominant strain, so low income people with no hygiene or education.
