The Altria dividend rate is absolutely fucking insane, is it worth throwing some money in?

No, legalization of more recreational drugs (weed, crack, meth) and the illegalization of tobacco products will kill the stock. Government will always go after tobacco because it's the log hanging fruit of things you can ban/restrict.

Yes but I feel like the explosion in vaping created far more nicotine fiends and cigarettes are way more common and socially acceptable among young people (especially in subcultures) then they were 10 years ago. It feels like investing in Jaegermeister or something before it blew up. The only thing stopping me is that PMO is the company that owns Zyn, not Altria. And Zyn is the most lucrative nic product by far

>Legalization of crack, meth
Will never happen, and also the increasing zombie/tweaker population seems like it'd expans their customer base

>is it worth it?
sure. yeah. probably. the odds of altria being a top performer in this or any year is low however, the business is in decline and probably never returning to growth plus they deal in vice which makes them the first target for extra taxes anytime the government wants more money, and they are completely controlled by parties interested in using that cashflow for their own ends rather than growing the company through acquisition and investment. so is the yield safe? yeah. but after some time watching the market, altria being cheap usually means there are bigger opportunities elsewhere, they only buy this thing when the rest of the market is fully priced.

the leaps on MO are sick. you can get 50 calls for $11K. if you are long stock its +$200k. if MO moves back to 2022 prices you bag almost 200%. way better than the dividend

Yea but divvy stocks don't usually jump that high, early 2022 was the peak of the everything bubble during covid

Cigarette prices are currently deflating
This might be a 3D chess move, I don't know
But PM And Altria are doing manufacturer rebates/coupons like a motherfucker, while also reducing cost
Shows me that demand might be lowering for traditional tobacco products and they're trying to rehook as many as possible by making it more affordable

great article about MO and how its undervalued. seriously thinking about getting those leaps. don't care about the dividend (though it is good) because the stock can get back to $50 before the leap expires giving me +300% gain
