I have a net worth of $500k and slept on a foam mattress on the floor for over a year. It's really not that bad. Even my girlfriend didn't seem to care that much.

You go on marketplace and look for people that are giving them away for free, or look for real wood furniture that people gave up on doing a DIY restoration and do it yourself, 99% of the time, those people that want to do DIY give up before even starting so you get some nicely made stuff that still have their old varnish and shit making them look rustic and vintage if you like stuff like that.

Once you are a comfy creature there is literally no reason to upgrade to a king memorypillow bed just because you have the money. Unfortunately I made the upgrade recently, I moved to a different suburb and got a new queen mattress and bed frame. To be honest the mattress is a little more comfortable but with that said I never really had any comfort issues before. The bed frame is solid timber and I like it because I have a bit of a thing about owning quality furniture rather than cheap stuff, I'd rather save up and buy a solid timber piece of furniture over going to Ikea and getting cheap particle board with veneer over it.

When I finally buy my own place and move again I may go back to the old foam mattress on the floor. Might even try the "nest".
