Threadly reminder that most 401K plans, or target date retirement funds, invest 30% plus of your money into foreign indices / foreign companies
Threadly reminder that over a 30 year time frame, you will get 1/3 the gains of just investing all of your money in the USA
Threadly reminder to not let your 401K plan or target date retirement fund scam you out of your capital gains
Don't be a sheep. Check your investments. Check their allocations. If you're in a target date retirement fund especially, they are NOTORIOUS for 30%+ allocations in foreign stocks -- this is braindead retarded allocation
Don't just put your investing on autopilot.
On a 30 year timeframe, this is big money
Take control of your finances. Invest in USA only.

If you decide to override their allocation into foreign stocks, by investing in US only, you will outperform every single one of your coworkers, 99% of this thread, 90%+ of investors worldwide

>Inside The Catastrophic Jobs Report: Record 1.5 Million Crash In Full-Time Jobs, Multiple Jobholders Soar To Record, Native Born Workers Plunge And Much More
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/inside-catastrophic-jobs-report-record-15-million-crash-full-time-jobs-multiple-jobholders
>Regular readers are aware that earlier this year we spotted a peculiar trend when it comes to economic data releases by the Biden admin which -without fail- had been revised lower
>this month was no different. In fact, as shown in the chart below, the jobs print from 10 of the past 11 months has been revised lower
>the monthly nonfarm payrolls (from the Establishment Survey) may have been weak at 216K but the far more accurate Household Survey showed that the number of Employed workers actually collapsed by an unprecedented 683K, the biggest drop since the US economy was shutdown by covid
>you will not hear anyone from the Biden admin, the mainstream media, or associated economist cheerleaders mention this, but the BLS reported that in December the number of full-time jobs plunged by 1.531 million to 133.2 million, the biggest monthly drop since the record covid crash of 14.7 million jobs
>Putting this in context, it means that since February of 2023, the US has not added a single full-time job (in fact it has lost 34,000), while adding 774k part-time jobs
>Putting it all together, if one believes the headlines, in December the US added 216K payrolls (which included a record number of double-counted multiple jobholders), and yet the number of employed workers actually crashed by 683K, the biggest drop in 4 years. Furthermore, taking a closer look at the composition we find that in December, the number of well-paid, full-time workers collapsed by a near record 1.5 million, offset by a 762K surge in part-time workers. As for the balance, it was the 222K people who discovered last month that to keep up with the economic miracle that is Bidenomics, they need to work at least one more job.

Jesus, that target date fund charges 5x what Vanguard does. It also has midcap exposure. I'm assuming your largest holding is FXAIX to offset the foreign holdings of the target date fund? Why not 50/50 those two funds. And ditch mid-cap, because of your exposure to the in the target date fund. Or, go 90 FXAIX and 10 FSMDX.

TRPNX the last one, this is the breakdown
https://www.morningstar.com/funds/xnas/trpnx/quote

so you're looking at around 20% in foreign, at your 10% allocation would be 2% in foreign stocks
most people would say "hey it's only 2% allocated in foreign stocks, why not?"
my argument to you would be why would you have any more than 0% - ever
if it's suboptimal on a 30 year timeframe, it doesn't make any sense to have any of your hard earned capital in foreign stocks - even 2% is too much
but overall, it's not the worst structure I've seen, where for many anons, literally their plan is 30%+ foreign stocks (which is fucking retarded, money getting stolen from their pockets hand over fist by greedy fund managers retarded)
Imo there is never a time where a target date fund is more optimal than just positioning yourself --- in my opinion as well, if you're under the age of 40, especially under age 30, there is absolutely zero reason to be investing any of your capital in bonds - all target funds will be allocating your money into bonds. It makes absolutely zero fucking sense as a 30 year to be even putting 1% of your money into bonds - that 1% over a 30 year timeframe is a LOT of money that you're missing out on
Once you are nearing retirement, only then should you be allocating in bonds - you should be trying to create the largest return possible from now until retirement, then use bonds to provide you with income in retirement
Don't worry about drawdowns on a 30 year timeframe, you are just trying to get as many eggs into your basket as possible - sure some eggs will crack in the process, but just keep accumulating eggs
and you will eat all the eggs.

Decide on an allocation. If allocation gets off by 5% or more, rebalance. Or rebalance once a year. Deciding on allocation will take the most time. Once that it done. Rebalancing, at most, is a half hour a year. I understand the expense of a TD fund, and that it creates value by doing it for you, I don't understand charging 400% more than the competition. they are. they are stealing capital gains from every American investor who is in one of these funds, where someone's workplace is pushing them to invest in these funds / it's the auto setting without it being adjusted
this is what's happening
>americans working a job receive paycheck
>money is taken out of their paycheck and handed over to fund managers
>fund managers use the dumb money to invest in the dogshit
>meet their charter quotas by using dumb money to invest in the things they're supposed to
>use fund money / rich clients money to invest in things that will produce the best gains
>charge fees on the dumb money for this "service"
Over a 30 year time frame, $10,000 invested was $31,379 in foreign stocks, $90,917 in S&P500
>>57192920
this is a $60,000 robbery, money that the investor should have received, but didn't
>but they didn't take the money directly out of the investors pocket!! it just underperformed!!
they're the same fucking thing.

I find the job data exceedingly difficult to understand. Let me get this straight
>payrolls climbing 216,000
>supposed unemployment rate is low
>Labor participation rate decreasing
How the hell does that even work? And then we have sources like shadowstats which claim to calculate unemployment rate according to the old metrics and they arrive at like 15-20% "true" unemployment rate. How in hell does any of this work? Statistics and data are far too easy to manipulate

Only way I could see that is if they're straight up ignoring gig economy type stuff. There's a lot of people these days purely employed in gig type work, maybe 2 to 3 of them at a time even (especially uber and lyft at the same time, plus something like doordash).

no, they’re just measuring the unemployment rate the way it was measured for 80 or so years before the gaybama administration changed the formula. are you not aware that we are literally living through an economic depression since 2008, anon? yes, a depression like the great depression and other less well-known ones before it. given how low interest rates have been and how high inflation has been (yes, the government numbers measuring inflation are dishonest, too), if you were to measure economic growth adjusted for inflation since 2008 you’d see clearly that we really are in a depression right now. they’re just lying to you about it.

What you should be doing is calculating the present value of their future cash flows based off of hash-rate guidance, which if you do you will realize the value of the stock is probably around 8-12 dollars, assuming that their relative share of the bitcoin hashrate wont materially drop, assuming that they can secure long-term low cost energy, assuming that they wont further dilute their stock etc etc etc
