Mine is 836. I just always use a credit card and always pay it off. If I ever get told I'm about to die, I'll probably debt max and party but who has time otherwise?

If I have zero credit right now, specifically what do I need to do to get my credit to a point where I qualify for a home loan? Like, how much money do I have to spend, and how long would it take?

790.
I have a few credit cards (Venture X is my main one, and a Costco card, and a few others I don't use) and I auto-pay the statement balance since day one back in college. I've never paid a cent of interest on revolving credit, and never will. That's my only debt stuff other than a modest student loan I paid off a long time ago.
Pretty good way to live, recommended

I put my motorcycle insurance on my credit card when I was 18 and - rode the bike into the ground and promptly went homeless after when my family imploded. Defaulted everything. Took me 2 years to pay back the 6k hole I put myself in counting interest payments with cash scrabbling. Took a 9K loan to get a CDL in the vain hope of a career (Canada lol, ain't cheap like America). Didn't get hired for a year. Still not hired. Wasted my money, still paying that loan. 3K credit card debit paying the minimums when I can with more under the table cash work. Dad has tax/loan debts in the 7 to 8 digit range - we are estranged, but I'm passively curious who they get passed to when he dies - my family, or his new family. They've got million dollar debts too. Might be handed a bill for 7-10 million, which is what he owed 5-ish years ago when we last spoke, when he dies.

I've yet to look at my credit score once in my life. I've embraced the spiral.

Sorry, that's not how this works. You can't build credit or maintain a score above 600 without paying interest to someone. Your score is a rating of how mutually beneficial your borrowing is. If you don't utilize your available credit then they will never increase your limit and they will never increase your score. Let's say you have a $2000 limit on your card. You repeatedly max it out and pay it off 4x over the course of a month. Do you think your credit utilization is 400%? No. It's 0%, so you aren't building your credit. You are creating a transaction history, and they can sell that information to advertisers but you will create no credit history doing this. Paying interest is a prerequisite. High limit cards are obviously not an ideal way to build or maintain your credit score. Low limit cards are a gateway into credit building and high limit cards are only good for balance transfers (debt consolidation) to rehabilitate your credit. After you establish that you can pay the interest reliably (utilize your credit) and this is a mutual benefit to the lender, then you graduate to loans. Loans are the best way to access $6K or more because the interest rate is less than half of a credit card. Sure, you can get 0% credit cards for a limited time but these should be considered life support. You want to keep your interest payments as low as possible while keeping your utilization above 40%.

People will tell you they have a score above 600 and all they do is use a card and pay off the balance every month to avoid interest. These people are always omitting some installment loan that is propping their score up. It's best to use the card (yes, I mean pay interest) until you can get an installment loan from a bank. Then you can get into the 700s. 800+ is for people who have a mortgage or $60K+ auto loan (again, paying interest is required).

I stopped reading your financially illiterate post here. I have a credit score of 833 and I do the same thing that anon does - I run all my transactions through that card and pay it off in full before the balance is due.

Pic related is my score. You are poor, do not reply to me again unless your post is one sentence long or shorter. I will not read it otherwise since you've demonstrated you're a moron.

I have over a million dollars but my score is like 585, the reason why is because I never use credit (why would I)

This is likely a UK thing, since most cashbacks are (were not so common now) done though current accounts & *switch* offers not credit cards.

Its pointless anyway, the only score I care about is the one given to my LLC.

That's absolute horseshit lol. My score is 800 plus or minus a few points and only active debt accounts I have is credit cards which I pay in full during the grace period. Only installment loan I've ever had was for a very small mortgage that I paid off in like 3 years. Was never stupid enough to take out student loans, an auto loan, personal loan, etc.

Look at how it's actually calculated, there's nothing about a decent credit score that requires you to pay interest, although having some installment loans and not just CCs probably does raise it to some degree. But to have excellent good goy score you just need to have at least a few cards with high limits, then keep the total utilization low and never miss a payment.
