This. They build these weird half mcmansion, half commercial looking sorta houses in my area. There's one down the street that people often ask what it is. I tell them it's a dothead doctor's house. They usually don't believe me because there's no aging Toyota Camry parked outside, but it's true. It looks like a weird duplex with a lot of shotcrete sprayed Styrofoam earthtone surfaces, mixed with Venetian style railing on 2 identical porches, and a single brick column tossed in. It's the most nonsensical looking structure around.

I've often wondered where they find architects willing to sign their names to these designs lol.

To answer OP: there has been a huge building boom in my area for the past 15 years. I see these mcmansions being slapped up all the time. Many are just osb sheathing and roof decking. They will not survive a year without constant heating and cooling/sump pumps, etc... so I believe a great many of them will simply crumble if the housing market collapses. It happened to most of the actual mansions from the roaring 20's along the east coast and also to many of the formerly upscale Detroit neighborhoods.
These things will rot away even faster.

That's all assuming governments retain their current level of power. I don't think it will shake out like that. When adversity arises, people naturally seek the company of their own. They'll self segregate, and the existing or recently formed communities with more similar cultural makeups will keep others out. It's the way the world has worked for all of recorded history and the reason why countries exist lol. I wouldn't get too paranoid about it unless you're a white dude in the ghetto or something.
