Turns out just buying was the best decision I've ever made. Fugg trading. Ez +50% just by buying and holding the big boys. Is it ridiculous to have +55% on the NASDAQ? Yes... but Bidenomics for the win.
I have to wonder though, what could possibly bring down the indices now? There is no war on the horizon, economy is fine, earnings are batshit crazy, peoples' spending habits are ridiculous and keep getting more ridiculous, mortgage applications are up despite being 7%, and JPow is extremely dovish. In theory research suggests dividend payments alone don't have much impact on a stock's total return over the long term. Whether the company holds it as cash or pays it out the value of that asset should be the same.

On the other hand, market pricing isn't perfectly efficient and dividend paying stocks do outperform the average even if the reason for their outperformance isn't necessarily the fact that they pay a dividend per se. Pic related comes from a report by JP Morgan's equities group. Probably the need to be a profitable company that makes long term projections of what kind of dividend payments they can afford using privileged insider information is what makes dividend paying companies perform better than the pure math would suggest.

What's up lads, don't know where else this is relevant to ask outside of making a thread.

Does anyone know what access the British government has to your stocks and shares holdings?

I'm recently facing redundancy after near a decade of employment. I've got a few K in stocks, not a lot (sub 16) but according to the benefits calculators it's enough to tank my council tax reduction by a fair few quid. JSA is unaffected apparently and is the meat of the payment, but last time I was on that shit those fuckers hound the shit out of you daily and nightly to look for any reason not to pay you, unless you're a nigger of course.

I know they can check your bank accounts without consent, but is there any way for them to find out about a trading account/Stocks&Shares ISA, or what is held in it? Or can I just get away with lying them to get some of my tax money back before it goes to niggers.

it's called a correction, as in the market is "correcting" the value of the stock, which should at most be $12-15. This is also why I have been posting here everyday for people to buy puts. Maybe if bitcoin goes to 100k and maybe if mara does not dilute their stock by another 100million shares it will trade at 20, but why not just be in bitcoin in that case?

yeah but those cars are largely plastic exterior below the hood line, for the express purpose of easily replacing the part. what's more, it practically detonates in an accident, giving the energy somewhere to dissipate, which makes the car safer overall. the cybertruck is a flying lead "forward" -- after a 180-degree turn to face the wrong direction. tesla heavily compensates for that fact in order to pass the safety regulations of the US and other countries. in the end, the owners will pay through the nose. if they don't lose their money to tesla, they'll lose it to insurers. it's just a matter of time.

with spreads, when it goes parabolic, you just sell. you don't need to squeeze the last dollar out of the trade. options trading has zero space for value-oriented, buy-and-hold-forever logic. as you now see, taxes are irrelevant.
you're skimming free money out of the market's mechanisms -- as you've just learned, why the fuck should you care about being taxed on it, even at the highest rate? it's only 35% or whatever.
you get 65% of something for nothing.
situation's different with covered trades. in that case you should want to be assigned. for puts that means it matters where the underlying is eventually headed, and what the taxes will be if you unwind it.

Most strikes are red on the day, and I'm approaching a 50% profit on the Jan 5th $17s I sold last Friday.

The stock has traded within a 15 cent range, and even on the 0dte calls there's an intraday premium that tends to settle out as the afternoon approaches. Perhaps you think it's spiking because you don't know how to interpret a wide bid/ask spread, and your brokerage is spitting out garbage pricing.
$15.5 strike for example would've at best fluctuated 20 cents higher, a 25% gain. But most likely it never got significant fills below around $1.
