>shooting the breeze with boomer coworker.
>comments on how "your generation never wants to commit anywhere and just job hops"
>"it's not like when I was your age" he says
Why are they like this? Maybe if companies were willing to commit to me I'd commit to them. If they'd invest in me then I'd invest in them. All '''entry level''' jobs on indeed ask for 1-2 YoE. None are willing to train. None offer a guaranteed path of upward mobility. If job hopping is the only way to get ahead then why should I feel guilty?

My grandfather was born in a village in Italy that literally had no running water or sewage until the 50's. He was over 18. He unironically pood in loo. He said one time him and some girl were making out in a field and while rolling in the grass, he rolled into a farmers shit pile. When he was a kid, he'd walk a mile or two just to get eggs, and at age 8 he started to walk around the village selling eggs, and sometimes when they needed the money, he'd walk up and down the road that ran by their village to sell eggs to pass bys driving between the major towns.
When I was 8, I saw in my pajamas until 10am eating breakfast cereal and playing vidya.
Point is, he came from an entirely different world from me, and I'll never understand it, nor experience it. If he saw me sitting around in pajamas at 10am, he'd literally not be able to comprehend why I'd be doing that when kids that age sold fruit and eggs from a basket.
That boomer is from an entirely different world then you, one that is as alien to you as shitting under a tree or walking 10 miles a day barefoot to sell eggs is to me.

Imma gen x'r and got a job at a company, at the time i was hired, was a lifetime golden ticket. The company paid very well and generally was super cash rich and low stress.
In the last 10 years all the old time execs have died or retired and the company is run top down by despicable globalists that has Expressly continuously fired the us workforce and hired in the 3rd world.
The while thing is falling apart and its a tragedy. Another American titan destroying what made it great.

There's something so innocent about this it actually makes me warm inside and brings a smile to my face. I do envy boomers in this regard honestly. A time before people were sent into mass hysteria and cynicism by the mass media and being terminally online. I wish it had happened to me. But the Gods bore me into this time for better or worse.

But yeah I see your point. We're from two completely different worlds. My boomer coworker would feel just as disoriented if I had to explain to him frog posting on anonymous image boards.

I get your point, and its true its and entirely different generation with their own unique experiences and ways of thinking, but some things are just plainly bad, no matter if they existed 30 years ago or are just a product of a new era. My father spent 40 years in the same company that didn't even bat an eye at letting him go to hire a new, younger, manager. He wasn't sick and he still did his job with more efficiency than anyone else. Out of nowhere he had to train the kid that would occupy his job and was forced to retired. The company was more concerned that he would become a risk because he's almost 70, than they were of honoring a loyal and hard working employee. Its just as OP says, most companies will never commit to their employees the same way they expect people to commit to their jobs, because if it means a bigger paycheck, all the employees are replaceable. That's why this new generation favors working by themselves, sure, i may not have the same benefits as a big strong company, but at least i know that if im going trough a tough time i just have to work hard, and if my dexscreener gems moon then i will take all the profit. No big company to fuck me over

> winter's thawed and it's early spring. Your childhood sweetheart agreed to go on a walk with you in the meadow just on the outskirts of the village.
>Hormones and youth raging. She's all you've ever known. You're walking along, laughing, playing, bantering. Things get hot and heavy and you fall over each other in the grass and start making out. You can feel the warm early spring sun on your face. You brush her hair behind her ear staring into the depths of her soul through the windows of her eyes.
>as you're rolling around together you accidently role in cow shit. She's laughing hysterically.

He is absolutely right. Not only are young people entitled and not willing to commit, their entitlement has made them delusional and more demanding than ever. In my field young people used to stay at the same place for years and work crazy hours and working crazy hours used to be the pride of my profession. Now getting someone to stay at the same place for six months is hard and everyone is working part time and taking vacations. We are afraid to commit. You can see it in relationships, choosing profession and staying in the same work place.

Unapologetically take advantage of every benefit and opportunity your employer gives you, whether it's training, tuition reimbursement, retirement plan match, etc. You know they won't think twice about pushing your boundaries, so do the same right back. Put yourself first 100% of the time, because no one else will. Wish I had a role model/ mentor to teach me these things earlier in life... what can we do, besides help the next generation avoid the same pitfalls we fell into... WAGMI bros

YOU aren't thinking big enough. Research any country which has mass immigration long term and you'll see how its ethnic demographics radically and permanently change. For starters look at India. They attempted to implement a caste system to keep apart the aryans and dravidians, but look how they ended up. Look at how Brazil ended up.
I agree with you in a sense in that the small term things like housing market and economy isn't largely impacted by that, but you're a fool if you think there won't be long term consequences of this.
