I plan to visit a few low cost of living countries to accelerate an early retirement and I figured I should at least check them out once.
Went to thailand last month, was fun, could see myself living there and it would mean at least 5 less years working. It got kind of annoying being surrounded by ESL everywhere though.
Not sure where I'll go next, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, and the Philippines were on my list to check out.
Getting a visa in Mexico seems the easiest for staying long term, but it seems like a real pain in the ass in most countries.

70k/yr is decent for a security guard, assuming you're able to get a high savings rate. I make about the same in my 30s, and I put 50% into crypto and 50% into retirement accounts. If crypto does a 3-4x next cycle I'll have enough to retire on 40k/yr indefinitely, but I've been grinding nonstop and save most of my income.
Feels like I have to make these kinds of risky bets to make it before I'm 40. 7k/yr isn't much and practically guarantees you'll be working your entire life. If doing 1 year on then 1 year off is what it takes for you to handle the world then that's what you have to do, financially it's the worst thing you can do, but in terms of fulfillment it's probably a better retirement than hoping you'll live and be healthy enough to do it in your later years.
In terms of seasonal work nothing will be as comfy as a security job, but I hear oilfield workers do on and off work, and there's seasonal workers in agriculture.
